Wedded Wednesday: Wedding Inspiration

With tomorrow being my 4th wedding anniversary, I wanted to share a video that kinda inspired me. This romantic slide show is of Keisha Williams and Robert Gray wedding engagement, ( I wonder whatever happened to them). The photography was done by Ross Oscar Knight photography . When I heard the song that was played during it, I had to find it. I searched for months for the song and then I finally found it. The song is " I Need You" by Shekinah Glory. I loved the song so much I actually used it as the song that myself and my wedding party went down the aisle on. I hope that you love the slide show as well as the song.

Wedded Wednesday: 3 Years

3 years ago I married my hubby. It was a wonderful day full of fun and excitement with family and friends.I look forward to all the fun and excitement that life has for us in the years to to come.   Happy 3rd Anniversary

Wedded Wednesday: 1,2, 5 or 20 Children.....What?

Now that I am expecting, I have been looking at baby items and realizing the expense. It is not cheap. Last week, Michelle Duggar announced that she was pregnant with her 20th baby. My first thought was "What!?" and my second thought was too congratulate her.I began to think about all the expense of one child, what about 20 children ......crazy. How many children is too many children? Should society dictate how  many children each person can have? I know some countries already try to regulate this.  Personally, I think that each couple needs to decide what is best for them then adjust their lifestyle to accommodate their choice. The hubby and I have discussed that Baby J might be it for us, but who knows what will happen when Baby J arrives. What do you think?

Wedded Wednesday: More Than One Wife

I have been watching the show, Sister Wives for the past year and recently saw a show on polygamy on Our America with Lisa Ling. I really found these shows interesting and liked hearing their lives, since it is so different than mine. In watching the shows, I can only think...there is no way that I could live that lifestyle. I am not condemning how they chose to live their lives, but I can not see myself sharing my husband knowingly with another woman or two or three. I was amazed, from what I saw, how loving the these relationships were between each of the wives with the husband and with each other. The honest portrayal of these relationships, showing all the different aspects including the ups and downs, is appreciated.  I guess that whatever type of relationship that you are in, they have their ups and downs and they are different from one another. I know for myself, that my marriage is only for myself and my husband and no one else. Could you be in a polygamist marriage? What...

Wedded Wednesday: You're a Kill Joy

I was told the other day that , "You are a kill joy." by my hubby. I was kinda like what? He began to tell me that I was killing the his joy with experiencing the pregnancy. I am sorry that that I do not want to have my stomach jiggled or be told that you are going to big in a few month. I had to explain to him that those thing are not cute nor do that make me feel cute. Then he had the nerve to act like his feelings were hurt when I explained it to him. I was like "Geesh..." and I am the one with all the raging hormones. To help him feel more apart of my pregnancy process, which I want him to be but on my terms, I had to give the following guidelines ( not sure if they will be followed but I tried).

Wedded Wednesday: Conversation

How important is conversation to you? Since my husband and I work different shifts, conversation is a very important. We tend to talk several times throughout the day, especially on our lunch breaks. It keeps us apart of each others day, until we have time together on weekends. The other night was a little different.  My husband came home from work and realized that I was awake, he began to talk to me.  We talked about how his day at work, my day at work, silly things on TV etc, etc, etc. Before we knew it was 1:00am. What was I was thinking? I have to be at work at 8:00 am (like I really make it there at that time, ha), but it was worth it. I really do not think that I just enjoyed the conversation, but I enjoyed the connection I felt with my husband. The connection is what I think mattered the most and I look forward to having many more moments like that in the years to come.

Wedded Wednesday: Husband + Hole in the Wall = Annoyed Wife

Do sometimes the little things annoy you? I am sure there are somethings that I do that totally annoy my husband. I just wanted to take this time to say......." I am totally annoyed with the hole in the upstairs hallway." We have had a hole in upstairs hallway for about a year or so. It has been there for so long I can not remember how it got there.  The subject has been brought up weekly about fixing the hole. Every time I say something or ask what the hubby what he needs to fix I get the response of , "You can do it. I can tell you how."  or I get this long list of items that I have not heard of to pick up from the hardware store.  I have to look at the hole every time that I leave our bedroom and I am sick of it. If the expectation is for me to clean the dishes every night, then my expectation is for the hubby to fix the things around the house. Hopefully, my annoyance will be over this weekend when we work on fixing the hole together . Thanks for letting me ve...

Wedded Wednesday: Bromance

According to the Urban Dictionary , bromance is a close relationship between to straight males. This subject came to mind after spending time with my husband while he was recuperating from his illness. I realized that he was on the phone quite often.  First I thought that he was talking to his mom, since I know she calls during the day. After awhile I realized that the he was speaking to his best friend. 10:00am, 1:00pm and sometimes in the evening he was on the phone. It seemed like they had a schedule going on, which I thought was strange. When I began to listen to the conversations, they really were not talking about anything important, but were talking about what some of things their friends had done, what they were watching on TV and what they had did that day.  Then I began to get annoyed, since I was thinking that  I was in the house and he could just talk to me. I just assumed that since my hubby and I work different schedules, they have been doing this ...

Wedded Wednesday: In Sickness and In Health

I recently read an article in O' Oprah Magazine about marriages and how illness can tear them apart. I guess found this article interesting since I have been taking care of my hubby for the last two weeks. When we take our marriage vows, do we really think about what the statement of " in sickness and in health" really means? In the article, it stated that most men will leave a marriage when an illness of the wife takes place, when women will stick it out for the long haul if their husband gets ill. The article continued to state that couples that go through an illness together, become stronger in their marriage and as individuals. With just the minor surgery that my husband had, things have been different over the past few weeks. Part of it is that I have been the main caregiver and taking care of most task around the house that we usually share. I could not image what it is like when a major illness takes place in a relationship when there is not only the stressor of...

Wedded Wednesday: Me Time

Do you think that it is wrong to have "me time"? When speaking to my friend Dani this past weekend, we both talked about the activities that we enjoy with and without our spouses. I have several friends who feel the same as we do, which is that  "me time" is good so that you can have better "we time."  I also have friends who seem to want to do everything with their spouse. I think that if I did everything with the hubby, don't get me wrong I love the hubby, but  I  think I would be crazy or just bored. I do not know if it is the only child in me or not , but I enjoying being with just me at times. On another point of clarity, I do not want to hang with my hubby's friends all the time and I am sure that he does not always want to be around my girlfriends. I truly feel that having your own space and interest bring freshness and variety to your relationship. Becoming better individuals make you better as a couple. What do you think?

Wedded Wednesday: " I Am Not June Cleaver."

In reading a post from Charli from Man,Wife and Dog , about an email that she received about her postings being all about her marriage being happy all of the time and not talking about the bad stuff.  Click here and here to view the posting and response. In reading her post and her lovely response back to the writer, I just wanted to shout," I am not June Cleaver." I think that most bloggers, well should I say that I read, do talk the ups and downs in their marriages, their likes and dislikes and a sprinkle of themselves in between. I think that most of us use this a forum to express ourselves and at times ask for a little help in our everyday lives and sometimes in our marriages. pic Times have changed, some of us are able to be June Cleaver and some of us are not. I think that each day,  each minute and week, we are finding our way through our marriages. We all try to do what is best for us and our marriage, depending on where we  are in life, where w...

Wedded Wednesday: Our 2nd Anniversary Stay-cation

For our second anniversary we had a stay-cation. At first, I wanted to go away somewhere thinking that Mr. J was just being a cheap-o, but I really enjoyed the stay-cation. For our anniversary we went to have massages and had a nice dinner. Our actual anniversary day was the only day that we had something planned, which was nice. The rest of the week, we had breakfast at the Waffle House, hung out around the house, went purchased a new cell phone cover for my husbands new touch screen phone, watched a few movies, painted our bedroom just in time for the arrival of our new bed and the best thing of all sleeping in and taking lots of naps. It is nice to go away, which we have a few trips planned this summer, but I must say a stay-cation is great too. I look forward to doing it again soon.

Wedded Wednesday: He Is The One?

As I get ready to celebrate my second  wedding anniversary next week, I thought about how did I know that Mr. J was " the one"? No, it was not the fact that we dated for almost a half century. No, it was not the fact that was lived together for several years before we got married. I knew that he was the one when: He continued to put up with my crap. He was supportive when my grandfather died. He took over most of the finances without expectation of it when I got laid off my job. He took me around his family for holidays. He listened to me complain about my clients at work. Helped me take my micro-braids out. He made me laugh when I had to have dental surgery. He made ice packs for my arthritic knees. When he stated the he would do anything for my mom. Went and got me chicken and noodles from Bob Evans when I was sick. Listened to me whine when I did not want to do something. Continues to go to my favorite Mexican restaurant even when he wants to eat some where els...

Wedded Wednesday: What Would You Do For Love?

On Monday, the hubby and I watched the movie The Next Three Days. In this movie, Russell Crowe's character comes up with a plan to break his wife out of jail for a murder that she did not commit. ***SPOILER ALERT**** Within this plan, he goes to meet with drug dealers, sells his house and spends hours on planning his wife's escape all so that he could have his family back together. When the movie was getting towards the end, I ask my hubby "Would you do that for me?" We both looked at one another and then I stated, "I would put some money on your books and exhaust all ways that I could through the legal system, but I do not think that I would have enough guts to go to that point." He looks at me and said," Ditto on that, but I would miss you alot and would visit you often." As we talked, I thought about how much I would miss my hubby if something like that happened and how much my life would change. It made me think, "What would I do for lo...

Wedded Wednesday: Church and Marriage

What part does faith play in your marriage? I must preference this post by stating that my husband is a PK. You do not know what a PK is....a preachers kid. Since he is a PK, he feels that when he was a kid he was forced to go to church every Sunday morning and evening and several services throughout the week that he can now as an adult make the choice to go to church or not. Even though, my husband is not a regular church goer, I know that he does believe in God and does think it is important in our lives. At times it bothers me that he does not attend every Sunday with me, but I continue ask him to go with me. When I attend service alone, he always asks when I get home how was service wand what Pastor talked about. Sometimes I want to give a smart-butt comment back like," If you came, you would know.", but I refrain from saying thatt would just deter him more. I would like to have more of that spiritual connection with him. We have prayed together and have had in-depth co...

Wedded Wednesday: Single vs. Married

I have been involved in a few casual discussions about , if married people should socialize or hang out with single people. When the discussion first came about I thought this is dumb, since I was once single and I had married friends. I guess the argument is that, if you are married that do not have anything in common with a single person any more or that you may start acting like you are single when you have other commitments waiting on you at home. I think that is silly, especially since I have several good single friends that I do things with and feel that I should have to give up those relationships because I am married. What do you think?      If you are doing Wedded Wednesdays to. link up so that we can see your thoughts abut marriage.

Wedded Wednesday: Am I A Cheap Date?

After reading an article on  The Nest.com , about fun winter dates that are cheap, I thought to myself, "Am I a cheap date?". After much thought and looking at some of the suggested activities on the list, I discovered that I am a cheap date (at times). Here are some fun winter ideas that they suggest to keep your cold winter days and nights warm..... Stay in and make a warm hearty meal together. Go sleding. ( The hubby and I might do this, this weekend since have snow and are expected to get more) Make over move night. ( We always love a good movie night. We usually fight over who can make the best popcorn) Play a game, be it a board game or Wii, and add a wager. Make it fun, who ever loses make breakfast the next day or cleans the others car. ( The hubby and I play games all the time, but never with a wager. Might have to try this one.) What type of fun winter dates do you and your hubby do? Have fun discovering new things to do together this winter and let us all know...

Wedded Wednesday: That Annoys Me

How do to tell someone that you love that they annoy you? Simple..just tell them. The other day my husband and I were watching tv. Of course he was watching Modern Marvels, which is  not something that I regularly watch, but since I was in "the man room" I watched it. About after watching 30 mintues of the show, he decides to pull up the guide, which I did not mind since I was still able to watch the show. Next thing I know, I see watches appear. He had changed the channel. I looked down the couch and said," That is annoying." Of course, he looks at me and says, "What?". What? What..he says. I began to explain that flipping the channels once someone gets into a show was annoying. His reply was, "You did not want to watch it any way." That was no excuse. I sat there for about 2 minutes just looking at the tv, while was still talking to me. Even though he was talking, I did not respond.  I think that he got the hint, since he turned the channel bac...

Wedded Wednesday: Christmas Eve

When my hubby and I began dating, he was still traveling home for Christmas. So that we could have spend some of the holidays together, we started a Christmas Eve tradition. We  order Chinese, watch a movie together and exchange gifts. We have continued this tradition through the years. Sometimes we have had to modify it a bit due to him having to work until midnight Christmas Eve or him having to leave early to get on the road home. For the past several years, we have had Christmas together, we still continued with this tradition. I know one year I kinda forgot about it and got a call at 8:00pm on Christmas Eve from the hubby with what he wanted from the Chinese restaurant. Of course, panic hit but lucky the restaurant was still open. We really enjoy this time together, for it gives us time to enjoy the holiday, before all the craziness of Christmas starts. Even as our lives change, we hope to keep this tradition alive, so that we can always have "our little Christmas" toget...

Wedded Wednesday: Come Play With Me

The other day my husband and I were talking about some of the Christmases that we had as children. Even though we spent our holidays differently, we focused on the the toys we got. It was not just that we got toys, but that our parents played with us with our toys. I talked about how when I got a Pound Puppy for Christmas and how my mom and I would make voices with me and play with me with them. I talked about how when my Pound Puppy, Cookie, one of her seams were coming undone and my mom got out surgerical masks, a sewing needle and thread and we played doctor to fix her up. My mom even gave me some bandages to wrap her up with. It was so much fun. My hubby talked about how he used to play with his racetrack with his dad. He talked about how they tried to figure out different ways to put the track together and his dad would race over and over with him until he beat him. He said that his dad never beat him, but I think that he let him win. We had so many other memories of Christmas...
