Sweeping Through Life

I needed to go and pick up a book that I had on hold at Half Price Books for book club and I took Gabrielle with me. I really did not want to take her with me, since the bookstore and the library are one of my happy places, but my husband had to run an errand of his own. The visit started out fine, but quickly went down the dark side of a fairy tale path. Gabby and I looked through the clearance books and found a few for a $1.00. Score! Then I decided that we would look to see if there were some Olivia books in the kids section since my book was on hold. We go to the kids section, Miss G. began pulling books off the shelf and sitting in one of the chairs and began flipping the pages. While she was doing that, I located a several Olivia book selections for her to choose from. I showed her the selections and of course said "No, I want that one." I am loving watching the Olympics. I am loving reading Forever Soul Ties by Vanessa Davis Griggs. book I am loving using my Cockpot on a weekly basis.  I am loving that my little has such loving godparents. I am loving the Cherry Berry Chiller at McDonalds. I am loving the 10 for 10 at Kroger.  I am loving the possibilities of each new day.

I have noticed that I have been reading more magazines while sitting on the deck this summer. 3.I like the warmth of summer, but the heat advisories are a little ridiculous. I guess I should be be quiet because I will want the warmth in about 6 months. 4. I can not believe the month will be over in three days. 5. I really love the Twilight series books and not just the movies. When I first heard this song, I thought it was really pretty in the prom scene. I had no clue what the name of the song was, just that it was from Twilight. I discovered it again, with the name of the song,  at a wedding that I attended this past weekend. With all of the TV shows either going off for the summer, I am looking for 3-5 books to read. I have a few ideas for books that I might want to read. Here is my list.......... Bright Shiny  Morning by James Frey The Final Testment of the Bible by James Frey The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake by Aimee Bender The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison ( Have tried to read this before, but have not been able to finish it.) The Help by Kathyrn Stockett Ideal Wife by Jacqueline Thomas Do you have any selections of books that you have read in the past or are currently reading? I like romance and suspense. I  am really not into sci-fi. Looking for suggestions so that I can finalize my list by  the middle of June.

I just finished Mommywood by Tori Spelling. Mommywood is a continuation of sorts of her current life with her children and husband, that started in sTori telling . In Mommywood, she is learning how to balance her celebrity life, her job and with her family, like many of us.  Her experiences as a wife and mother, granted we are not all going to the zoo with our children and a couple of cameramen in tow, are experiences that every mother and wife can have. Tori has the same insecurities, maybe at times extreme, about how she wants her marriage and how to keep her family safe. Through reading the book, she wants what all of us want, which is a normal, happy family. It was a really light read, full of humor and honesty. I really enjoyed  reading the book, even though my husband made comments about my reading selection. Mr. J will I have even more to say since Tori Spelling's new book unchartered terriTori comes out on June 15 and I plan on getting it. If you need a good laugh ...

1. Are you going to stand in line today to get flip flops at Old Navy for $1.00? I am always ready for a sale and love flip flops, but I can not see myself standing line for flip flops. Besides I think if  I brought another flip flop in the house, my husband would have a fit.  2. I just got done ready Tori Spelling's sTori TELLING. I know, I know I am behind. I really found the book interesting. It was an easy read. I watch her show and of course I watched the original 90210 that she was on. Even though she is a start I think that she seems really down to earth. The book really made me appreciate the relationship that I have with my mother.  I just purchased Mommywood and started reading it. I had to complete the set. 3. Why does every season finale of the shows that I enjoy watching have to take place on the same night and at the same time? Thank goodness for TiVo. 4. Why does healthy food have to be so expensive?  5. Why can't every weekend be a three day weekend? ...

I do not think that this was a really fair"thing to do", since I love to read. I tend to read more in the summer when there is nothing on TV. I have already recapped one of the books that I read" Basketball Jones" by E. Lynn Harris. Click here to see what I say about it. E.Lynn Harris was one of my favorite authors and I am sad to say that he passed away in this past weekend. He will truly be missed in the literary world. The second book that I read this summer was, "Queen of Babble Gets Hitched" by Meg Cabot. I happened to walk upon this book at the library and the cover was interesting so I checked out the book. After reading it, it made me want to read the other ones in the series. I did not read them in the right order, this one was the actually the third one in the series. The story follows a girl named Lizzie's journey through her romantic relationship between two best friends, her budding wedding dress business and her wild family. It is a lig...

Author E. Lynn Harris does it again with his current book, " Basketball Jones ". This story has as many twist and turns as Mr. Harris's other books such as A Love of My Own and Too Good to be True . This story takes place is New Orleans where Aldridge Richardson, is an interior designer that wants to volunteer his time, make new friends and spend time with the love of his life. The only problem is, being with the love his life comes with a price. The price is losing himself. He must figure out if loving someone totally is worth not loving himself. I give this book out of 4 out of 5 sweeps. Some parts I thought were predictable, but others kept me on the edge of my seat. I think it is a good summer read.
