Tot Talk: Tot Weight

Last week I took Miss G. to her 4 year old check up and her over all health is good. The doctor did express some concerns about the amount of weight she gained over the last year.I will say that my first reach was, is this doctor labeling this African American child. Then I regrouped, due the working relationship that I have with her pediatrician and the care that she given to her over the years. The doctor also stated that she was tall as a 6 year but she weight as much as a 8 year old, so she could not really tell if the weight was a concern or not. She got me all confused. Now I am supposed to watch her carb intake and give her more fruits and veggies, which she already loves, last year it was how much milk intake she was getting. It is so frustrating. Miss G goes through periods of time when she is a little puffy to when she has a huge growth period and really lean. Now since that visit, I have been limiting her snacks, which tend to be high in carbs and balance them more out oth...

You Are the Biggest Loser.....NOT!

I am in 10th place, which means that I won a whole ........(drumroll).....$17.16. YES!!!!  I posted   a few months ago about entering this session at my job of the Biggest Loser contest. I had mixed feeling about doing this term since the last two I kinda sucked at. This session I did lose a total of 8.89 pounds over this 12 week period. I just need to keep it up so that I can look good in my summer dresses and bermuda shorts. I know it is going to be hard due to I love to have ice cream in the summer time. I am going to keep on walking with my friend in 2-3 evenings per week, going to my line dancing class, continue using my fat tracker on my Blackberry and use my Zumba tape a little more, so that the ice cream does not show. My co-workers and myself loss a total of 161.8 pounds!! That is great. I am not sure if I am going to do to the next session. Since there is an entry fee, I might just take my $17.16 and quit while I am ahead.

Working It Out

Well, I have been back on my weight loss journey. I am have been working out at least 5 days a week, even it is just 30 minutes on the treadmill. I feel better and my clothes are feeling a little different. My achy, athritic knees are feeling good. When I weighed in on Wednesday at work for the Biggest Loser contest and I had lost 5 pounds. Yeah me!!. I continue to get support from my friends and the group that I am in on Facebook.  I continue to watch my food and the calorie counter app that I have on my Blackberry has really help me keep track of my food and exercise. It really helps me make healthy choice and really know I need to exercicse. I continue to be a work in progress as I continue this journey. Anyone else working it out? How and what are you doing?

Commit To Be Fit

I think that I eat healthy. I love to eat fruits and veggies, but I do have a sweet tooth. I know what my problem is.....exercise. I like it and how it makes me feel better, but then I just get lazy and stop working out. This year I have come up with a plan to try   to keep my workouts going. A few weeks ago Target had all of their exercise videos on sale for $10.00. I purchased 3 of them. I got... image found and image found I purchased two of the walking videos. One has some resistance training with it and the other is a 30 minute quick walk. I have also started to go back to the gym more often usually one to two times a week taking water aerobics or walking on the treadmill. I have also signed up for a line dancing class to help with a little more variety. I want to do at least workout 4 times a week, so far I have done 3. Another thing that has helped me over the last few weeks is a calorie counter application that I loaded on my Blackberry. It is called ...

Biggest Loser Top 10

I talked about a few months ago about how I was in the Biggest Loser competition at work. Last week was our final weigh-in and we found out the results yesterday. I was not the Biggest Loser winner, but I was in the Top 10. Yeah!! I ended up losing 11 pounds, over the 12 week period. I just watched what I ate to lose the weight. I was walking when the session started, but between the arthritis in my knees and hot, hot weather, I have not been doing a lot of that lately.  I did not totally reach my goal, but I am proud of what I accomplished and being in the Top 10.  We are starting a new session in 2 weeks and I am planning on setting another goal of 20 pounds before November. Before the next session, starts I am going to get my plan together to accomplish my new goal. At this point, for me I would be happy with any weight loss, because I just want to be healthy. Do you have any weight-loss goals? Have a good weekend.

Watch out Jennifer Hudson

I am on the move. I weighed in at my jobs " Biggest Loser" contest today and I have lost a total of 9 pounds since starting the contest. Yeah..me. I feel good and some of my summer clothes are a little loose. I would like to lose another 10 pounds. That's just a goal, I think that I would be fine with any additional weight loss.  If I lose another 10 pounds, I might be able to give Jennifer Hudson a run for her money ( she looks great). LOL.

Mini Chocolate Chip Cookies

In my pursuit to drop some pounds, I have been looking for recipes that reduce the fat but still have the taste that I am looking for. I found this Weight Watchers Mini Chocolate Chip Cookies. They were really easy to make. If you are doing Weight Watchers, the cookies are 1 point each. Mine might be a little more since I added some chopped pecans to them. They were yummy and smelled good when they were baking. I did not tell anyone in my household that they were not regular chocolate cookies..but it did not seem to matter, because they were eaten up. Ingredients 2 Tbsp butter, softened    ...

Weight Loss and Random Ramblings

I weighed in today for The Biggest Loser contest at my job. I lost some weight..check out my ticker on the side. I need to keep it up. In this contest we have to pay $.50 if you maintain or $1.00 if you gain. I am not trying to pay anymore money than the registration fee that I did pay. I have been really watching my food and have been drinking lots of water with lemon. It really helps that we have been having good weather for me to go walking since I have to be gentle on my knees. It is a real motiviation to have co-workers doing it with me as well, we are so competitive, but yet supportive. Whatever works to keep me going, down, down, down. ********************************************************* Why do TV shows start to get really good when the season finale is coming up? Why do foods that are good for you, are always more expensive? Why does the weather always act up, effecting you cable when are really into a TV show? With all the current issues in the United States, how w...

Are You the Biggest Loser?

Since my wedding, I have gained about 8-10 pounds from what I was the day I got married. I am happy about the fact that I did not gain everything back that I lost, but I am not happy about any weight gain. I must admit, I got lazy with my exercise routine this winter and have recently started having issues with my knees that have been preventing my from exercising. To get me back into the groove I have been watching what I have been eating and been walking during my lunch hour. I have actually lost 2 pounds in the last 2 weeks. I have also joined the Biggest Loser contest at my job as motivation and support. I think that the biggest motivation is I want to get in to my cute summer dress and look good in them. I will keep you updated on my progress and let me know if you have any weight loss tips to share.
