Sweeping Through Life

My little fish with her summer swim coaches.  Splish, Splash it is time for a Swim Team Bash. My little one enjoys the water so much, she was ready to get in the pool as soon a we hit the parking lot. The bash was held at the  Gahanna Aquatics Facility  This facility has 2 separate pools, water slides, water climbing wall, diving boards, playground, shelter and picnic tables. There is lots of space to sun bathe and relax. In looking at the memberships for the pool, they seem reasonable and if my daughters swim team fees did not include a summer membership I would look into this facility.  For the party the team had access to all the pools and the shelter area. It was a simple and casual affair, potluck style. Most of the main food was prepared by one of the swim moms and all the other families brought sides or drinks. party I have been thinking about Miss G. first birthday party. Yes , it is in February and it only September. I have a few ideas swirling, but nothing is finalized yet. Heck I have several months to plan, so gathering ideas this far in advanced gives me a little lead way. I have seen some cute kids parties from some fellow bloggers, such as Hello Patti ,  From Marriage and Motherhood and Heather Drive .  I am looking forward to planning my little ones first b-day. I had my baby shower with my family and friends at the beginning of this month.  The theme for the shower was, "She is About to Pop". I really enjoyed myself and had a good time. Here are some of the pics...... Here I am with the lovely ladies who put my baby shower together. Thanks so much. The cake was from my favorite bakery Reesch and the popcorn was the favor for the shower. It was so good and was a big hit. Enjoying the meal with my mother-in-law and my mother.  Baby J  and I were really blessed with all the clothes, diapers and little things that she received. All the gifts will be put to good use in a few weeks.

Friday Had my Halloween party. It was so fun. My original idea for my costume fell through and I use what I had and was a witch for the evening. People really got in the spirit of the holiday and giving. Attendees bought so much food items that we filled up a whole box with non-parishable foods that will  be donated to my local food pantry. I even had someone dress up as Sue from "Glee". I am already gathering ideas for next years party. Saturday Slept in until 2:00 pm. I then got up and watched lots of Lifetime tv and whatever horror film that was on. Sunday Went to church. Invited my mom over for a fall feast for Halloween. After dinner my mom and I wanted an ice cream cone from Dairy Queen and had lots of drama with trying to order a small vanilla cone dipped in chocolate rolled in nuts. Was looking forward to watching the Simpsons Halloween special, but I fell asleep on the couch.I was mad that I missed it, but I will catch it on the internet. Hope you had a good...

I am so excited and we are suppose to have great weather. It is only a few days away to our annual 4th of July party. Each year it gets bigger and better. I have so many ideas on how to decorate the house. I have already put up the 4th of July flag on the house. I need to put decorations on the door and I think that I am going to line the driveway with flags, like I did last year. Since we are suppose to beautiful weather, I am trying to think of ways to decorate the back yard. I am sure that I will think of something. Here are some ideas that I found that I might use to display the food and decorate the house..... I am making cupcakes, but instead of making flags like they did at Martha Stewart , I think that I might make star. They might be a little easier to cute out and I can use the scrapbook paper that I already have. I found this idea again .... thanks to good ole Martha . I was listening to the radio while driving on my way home and heard a commercial for a party at a local club to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day this weekend. The first thing that came out f my mouth was ,"What?".  Who thought of this? Is this a good way to honor his memory? I might not have such a problem with it if they have persons attending the event bring a can good or a portion of the profits went to a local charity. How is this party celebrating Dr. King and all of his work?  It seems to me that, someone just made up a reason to have a party. I think that there are other ways to honor Dr. King, like volunteering, marching a local MLK walk or attending one of the many Dr. King programs in your city. I am not sure Dr. King would be happy with people tipping a bottle in honor of him. Maybe I am over reacting, but I find it kinda of rude and disrespectful. Maybe I am just being sensitive, but I do not like it one bit. Whatever way you decide to honor Dr. King this...

With all the holiday stuff going on, I was not able to finish the recap of my husbands birthday. I have already talked about the suprise party, but not the rest of the weekend. Well, thanks to a good friend I was able to rent a hotel room for the entire weekend for a great rate. It was nice to have a little get-a-way. While we were on our get-a-way, I had a few activities planned. On Saturday, we had a couple massage done a local spa. It was nice that we were in the same room, it made it more relaxing. He had a couple of other services done such as a manicure and pedicure. I treated myself as well and got a pedicure. I think that he was nervous at first about the manicure and pedicure since he had never had a professional do it before, but he really liked the end result. I think that some of the nervousness went away once he realized I was going to be in the room. After the massage we went back to the hotel, had dinner and just relaxed. I attended my first Tastefully Simple party on Friday night. I must say that all of the foods were really yummy. Our consultant Carol, was really funny and I liked her stories of how she got started and the recipes that she makes with the products. There was so much food there that you would never think that eating appetizers and sampling little bites of stuff would make you so full, but I was stuffed half way through the party. There were lots of dips, breads and dessert that you can make really quick and taste really good. I really liked the beer bread with the balsamic dipping oil. I can wait until I get the items I purchased to try them at home. I had a really good time breaking bread and talking with others at the party. It made for a relaxing way to end my Friday.
