Wedded Wednesday: Sleeping

Wedded Wednesday is a collaboration of married bloggers sharing their inspirations, anecdotes, struggles and thoughts regarding the amazing union of two separate people, as one   The other night  I was laying bed and rolled over to see Mr. J sleeping. As a slight snore rolled out of his mouth and I  thought, this is my husband. I began to think about all the laughs that we have had over the years, all the fun that we have had the last two weeks and what a big support he has been the last few week as I have assisting with my mom's recovery process. I watched him sleep some more and thought how much I really appreciate and love this man. I watched him sleep some more, I began to get sleepy so I snuggled up to his back to rest for the evening. Suddenly the snore stopped and I heard, " I was wondering when you were going to stop starring at me". I giggled and smiled. Within moments, all I could hear was the light snore of my husband that lulled ...

If kisses were the water I would give you the sea, if hugs were the leaves I would give you a tree, but if love was time, I would give you eternity. Anonymous quote found here

Fill in the Blank Friday

1.   If I could choose my last meal it would be  the ultimate feast from Red Lobster that has snow crab legs, lobster, shrimp scampi and fried shrimp. I would top it off with two scoops of mint chocolate chip ice cream in a waffle cone   . 2.   My favorite person to share a meal with is    Mr. J   because,     we often order different meals that we can taste what is one each others plate, but we have good conversation   . 3.   The best meal I've ever had was      is when my mom makes lasagna, in which she does not do often . 4.   The one food that makes me feel instantly better when I'm having a bad day is           a can of Sprite, in which I call my crack, or ice cream . 5.   My absolute specialty in the kitchen is     my family enjoys me making chili or beef stew    . 6.   The city that has the best food is  ...

Wedded Wednesday--- His, Hers and Mine

Wedded Wednesday is a collaboration of married bloggers sharing their inspirations, anecdotes, struggles and thoughts regarding the amazing union of two separate people, as one   You ever come home and your taste buds all set for a special food item and realize that once you get there that it is gone. I understand that we need to share in a marriage, but sometimes I just want to have something to myself. When I want Oreos, I want to be able to go to the cabinet and get them without picking up a package with 2 left. When I want some fruit juice, I want to be able pour an adult size glass and not a sippy cup size. What should I do? Should I buy in bulk and then we would have an overage of food that might go to waste. I might have to go to stashing items in hiding places around the house, but I should not have to do that. I know that this sounds silly...but when a girl wants her Oreos and ice cream after a long day at work it should  not be much to as...

Wedded Wednesday: Fatherhood

Wedded Wednesday is a collaboration of married bloggers sharing their inspirations, anecdotes, struggles and thoughts regarding the amazing union of two separate people, as one. What qualities in your husband makes him a good father? When I met my husband, I knew that he had a daughter. As our relationship grew, he allowed me to met her (he was very guarded about who he allowed to interact with her). I was able to watch  him play with her, laugh with her and talk with her. Their relationship is solid and she will always be daddy's little girl. I will say, that their relationship has not always been easy (especially the teenage years) but his love for her has never changed. Over the years, watching him be a father to his daughter has allowed me to see the qualities in him that make him a good father, here are just a few of my thoughts..... loving understanding listener disciplinarian playful kind Being a parent there is not always smooth sailing, but ...

Storms

I do not like thunderstorms. I do not mind rain, but I can live without the lightening and thunder. We have been having a lot of them over the past few weeks. The rain is good for the grass, flowers and the garden, but not for my nerves. My mom has said that I act like my grandfather, when storms come. Maybe he knew something that we don't. Sometimes I try to think of the childhood tale was told me, of that lightening was the angels dancing, the thunder was God clapping for them and the rain was God tears of happiness. If worked to calm me as a child, really not working as an adult. As we speak, I am forcing myself to stay awake to watch the news until the thunderstorm warning expire, which I hope is in a few minutes. I really need to get over it, but I hope at sometime tonight I  am able to get some rest. Good blogging friends.

Music Monday-- Aaron Hall

When I first saw this video I cried...but for some reason I video taped it and watched over, over and over again. That was really smart. I guess I just wanted to hear the song, I guess I should have just bought the album.  Have a happy Monday.

See My Garden Grow

The garden is in. We have begun planting a few weeks ago. I actually helped more than I did last year. I helped turn the soil and plan the plants. I usually are only in charge of picking and cooking once the plants are ready. I kinda of enjoyed it, until I started sweating. My husband tried to call it "couples time", I guess. We planted the following: Cherry tomatoes Beefsteak tomatoes Roma tomatoes Green and red cabbage Butter lettuce Collard greens 2 types of broccoli Cauliflower My husband had purchased additional plants for the garden, but we ran out of space. Sometime this weekend we are going to have to extend the garden so that we can add.... Green beans More tomatoes Butternut Squash I have even tried to do a herb garden. I planted basil, thyme, sage and oregano. I really want to try to grow strawberries and pumpkins, I will see if he can make some more room for them in the garden.  These pictures are from the first week of planting. The plants have...

Poll: What is the best thing about your marriage?

Tells us about what the best thing is about your marriage. For me part of it is our sex life, but the other is the friendship and the relationship that I have with Mr. J. Book Report: Mommywood

I just finished Mommywood by Tori Spelling. Mommywood is a continuation of sorts of her current life with her children and husband, that started in sTori telling . In Mommywood, she is learning how to balance her celebrity life, her job and with her family, like many of us.  Her experiences as a wife and mother, granted we are not all going to the zoo with our children and a couple of cameramen in tow, are experiences that every mother and wife can have. Tori has the same insecurities, maybe at times extreme, about how she wants her marriage and how to keep her family safe. Through reading the book, she wants what all of us want, which is a normal, happy family. It was a really light read, full of humor and honesty. I really enjoyed  reading the book, even though my husband made comments about my reading selection. Mr. J will I have even more to say since Tori Spelling's new book unchartered terriTori comes out on June 15 and I plan on getting it. If you need a good laugh ...

Wedded Wednesday--We Are Family

Wedded Wednesday is a collaboration of married bloggers sharing their inspirations, anecdotes, struggles and thoughts regarding the amazing union of two separate people, as one. There has been a lot of we in "family" lately. This past weekend my step-daughter graduated from high school. Needless to say there were a whole bunch of relates in the house. I come from a small family, my husband does not. Even though we have been together several years, all those people still sometimes still overwhelm me. As I looked around the room, I realize this is my family now. When I married Mr. J, I not only obtained the title of wife, but also of daughter-in-law, aunt, great-aunt, etc. I kinda like the new titles and am trying to fit into each of them. Each large family function, I get more comfortable. More comfortable I get, the happier Mr. J is. In a family we may not always be able to choose who our family is, but I am so happy that Mr. J chose me to be apart of his.

Watch out Jennifer Hudson

I am on the move. I weighed in at my jobs " Biggest Loser" contest today and I have lost a total of 9 pounds since starting the contest. Yeah..me. I feel good and some of my summer clothes are a little loose. I would like to lose another 10 pounds. That's just a goal, I think that I would be fine with any additional weight loss.  If I lose another 10 pounds, I might be able to give Jennifer Hudson a run for her money ( she looks great). LOL.

Wedded Wednesday......Hubby vs. Sleep

Wedded Wednesday is a collaboration of married bloggers sharing their inspirations, anecdotes, struggles and thoughts regarding the amazing union of two separate people, as one.   My hubby and I work different shifts. We have always worked different shifts during our relationship and it has worked for us. Usually when I am coming home from work, he is leaving for work. Our bodies are on totally different time schedules. This does cause some conflict when he is off (which are not normal weekend days) and he wants me to stay up, but my body is saying "Sleep, sleep, sleep." I have tried several things like taking a nap or sleeping in later in the morning so that our couples time is not spent with him watching me sleep on the couch. Sometimes it is really hard and sleep still wins out. I even have tried to justify it by say that we are cuddling when  I fall asleep in his arms....that justification only lasted for so long,  Mr. J  has made little comments ab...
