Red, White and J's

Mr. J and I are known for our annual New Year's Eve and 4th of July parties. It seems like each year we have to make the next one better than the last.

I am excited about this years 4th of July party because the weather is suppose to be great,

Mr. J has the yard looking great and we got some new deck furniture (with all the of the Target gift cards we got for the wedding, thank you). I am now trying to decide what to serve. I ask everyone to bring something of course, but I can not decide what I am going to make. Here are some of my thoughts:

  • dump cake
  • baked beans
  • coconut cake
  • mac and cheese
Do you have any suggestions? My husband is the grill master so he will be in charge of the grill for the hot dogs, brats, hamburgers and ribs. All he ask for me to do it to make by famous barbecue sauce (which I learned from my momma).

Of course, there will be some spirits flowing especially, my famous mango margaritas and one of my favorite drinks strawberries and cream.

The 4th is always fun with friends. If the sky is clear, we can see a fireworks display from near by neighborhood in our back yard. I will update you next week on all the festivities.

What are you doing for the 4th of July?

Fill in the Blank Friday--Sleep

1.   The last thing I do before going to sleep is         turn on the TV and set the sleep timer . 2.   When I can't sleep I      watch TV until I fall back to sleep   . 3.   The first thing I do when I wake up is     go to the bathroom . 4.   When I'm tired I      can fall asleep anywhere. I have fallen asleep in a folding chair, on a couch , outside, sitting up.....let's say when I am tired, I am tired . 5.   My dream bedroom would be       have lots of white linens and would feel very breezy. It would be filled with antiques and have a large sitting area. It would be shabby chic . 6.   If I could wake up anywhere tomorrow morning it would be        on a porch on a beach house listening to the waves roll in and the feeling the sun rise on my face . 7.   The longest sleep I've ever had was    I a...

Wedded Wednesday: Thanksgiving Traditions

With the holidays coming,  I am thinking about how I want to spend them with the hubby. We do the same thing every year for Thanksgiving and make a road trip to spend it with his family. I usually go shopping on the day after Thanksgiving starting at 3:00am and usually come home and sleep the rest of the day. I was looking at starting some sort of new traditions on the Saturday after Thanksgiving that we can do for years to come. Maybe like putting up the Christmas tree (this is my vote), taking an annual holiday photo, doing some shopping together or maybe doing something relaxing like getting a couples massage. Of course, we will have to throw in some football and lots of left overs whatever we decide to do.Building new traditions, will be the traditions that will continue in our family  and define the holidays for years to come.  Do you have any Thanksgiving traditions?
