Wants their underwear to match their clothes.  Needs perfume everyday. Is concerned about her teacher being at school once she leaves.  Tries to teach the other students in the first soccer class what to do and you have never played soccer. Wants to drink strawberry milk out of a fake Starbucks cup. Wants her nails polished. Ask her Auntie TT when she is getting her hair braided.  Ask when she is going to the gym to see her friends. Wants to cuddle with mommy in her bed so she can broadcast her kids YouTube shows on the TV from the Google Chrome. Wants to call and Face time her friends Wants to go to her room because people in the house are bothering her. People in the house are bothering her..there is no one here but her father and I.  She ever evolving, but aren't we all.  She at times is strong but ot

Eggtastic Fun

With this being Easter weekend, my household will be a flurry of activity from dying Easter eggs, to having any egg hunt with friends and of course church and Sunday dinner. We started out the weekend by dying Easter eggs. I did not purchase a kit, but did it the old school way. It is cheaper and the items used, I can use for other baking or cooking recipes. Here is the recipe that I used:   3/4 cups of  hot water for each color   1 tablespoon of white vinegar per color   food coloring (2-4 drops of each color depending on how deep of  color you want) Let the eggs sit in the color for at least 2 minutes to obtain some color and occasionally roll around to make sure all sides are covered. You may let the eggs sit in the color mixture as long as you want to obtain the color that you want. I believe that we let some of our darker eggs sit in the color for at least 4 minutes on each side.  Miss G. enjoyed making the creating the colors and watching the

Tot Tuesday: Let Her Be a Child

A few weeks ago I posted about how the doctor wanted me to increase Miss G activities. Over the last few weeks, Miss G has been riding her bike in the evening or I have been going to the gym to workout where she can go the kids gym and run and play and participate in large motor activities. I know that with the milder weather that we have been having that her class has been going outside for at least one time a day to play. She seems to like all the activities and even ask if we are going to the gym or if she can ride her bike when she gets home. In addition to the increased activities I have pulled out one of her old plates that had the dividers sections in to assist with portion sizes for her. She currently is signed up for swimming and dance. When I stated that to the doctor, she stated that I needed to look for another activities. Well  I have. I have her signed up for soccer. We will see how this goes. I think she thinks that she is going to play like the people she has seen p

Thanking God for Another Year!

As I grow another year older, I am thankful for seeing another year. This year I would like to continue to explore new experiences by myself and with my husband, continue with my healthy lifestyle changes so that I can see my next birthday, continue to make changes to become more financially secure,  to be the mom and wife that my family needs, explore some of those beauty videos on YouTube for some tips as I explore makeup a little more and as I go in to the this birthday I want to continue to work on the person that I am happy with. Soooo, happy birthday to ME, may it be a great one!

5 Things I like About Spring

My birthday is the first day of spring.  Being able to spend more time outside since it is warmer and stays lighter in the evenings, even though we lose a hour of sleep. The scents in the air go from woodsy and masculine to more floral, feminine and light. Sleeping with the window cracked to enjoy a light breeze at night. Just glad to see the snow gone. Heeeellllooooooo Spring!

Tot Tuesday: Rocking the Vote

Took the Miss G with me to the voting booth this morning.  It is always an interesting experience taking her when I do. She loves to give my ID to the workers. She loves to push the buttons on the voting machine. Miss G always asks the questions of who the people are mommy is voting for, which I love trying to explain on a 4 year old level (NOT) . She always ask for her sticker and proudly wants her picture taken once we leave. By taking her with me, I hope to instill in her the importance of voting. I want to instill in her why her voice is important. When she goes with me, she seems to always enjoy it and appreciate the process. I hope that she always does because the way that she chooses to live and enjoy life may depend on it. I will keep taking her with me. I will keep trying to explain to her at her level what the political process is about. I want her to always to ask for her sticker. I want her to always to vote and to take part in the process, because it is her right.

Tot Talk: Empowering Miss G.

We Can Do It! On today, International Women's Day I am reflective on how I want to empower Miss G. and support her not only as a girl but as an African-American girl. I want to teach her strength through love, teach support though kindness and teach her love through actions. I want her to see her mommy giving to others and supporting others but still there for her when she needs it. I want to empower her through her learning, through her thoughts, though her words and through her feelings.I want her to know that she matters in every way.  I am learning to show her even though she is little she is powerful and special always. Each morning we have been saying a manta..                      " I am smart. I am beautiful. I can learn.  I am loved.  I can do anything. You Go Girl!" I want her to say it so much that she has it down in her spirit so that whatever comes her way or whatever someone says to her she already knows that who and what she is.  I love sayin

Journaling

I have started and stopped writing in a journal for years. I just have just let life get in the way but I recently have started again. I have found it to be freeing and enlightening. I have also looked back on some of my old journals that I started and stopped and thought what the heck was I thinking.  What I have found helpful  this time around since finding a little time for me a little hard are these monthly list that I located on Pinterest . These list are full of questions can help jump-start your writing process or just help you think of thoughts to write about. A few of the questions for this month are: -What d you what more of? -Something letting go of -The best place to be -How do you focus? -Ten things you learned the past year? Click the  Pinterest link above for the complete list. If you journal what do you journal about?

Easter Eggs, Ribbon and Hot Glue

Every Easter season I say that I want to have a wreath made of plastic Easter eggs. I know, Easter eggs you say. I did not want one with flowers once it since the last time that I had one with flowers on it the birds made a nest in. We looking on Pinterest, I found some really pretty ones. Not only was it easy on the wallet, but it was very easy to make. Guess what, really was and fun too. Here is what we did.  You will need......... -40-60 plastic Easter egg (This depends on the size of the wreath. I used about 52.) -Hot glue gun - Straw or Styrofoam wreath -Ribbon for hanging   Of course you have to put the eggs together first. Miss G. was so excited about doing this. She asked all day until she was able to finally put the eggs together. We had a little trouble with some of the colors, but we worked at it until we put them all together.  I purchased my eggs at Walgreens for $2.49 for a pack of 42. I purchased two packages for this project. I first tied on

Tot Talk: Tot Weight

Last week I took Miss G. to her 4 year old check up and her over all health is good. The doctor did express some concerns about the amount of weight she gained over the last year.I will say that my first reach was, is this doctor labeling this African American child. Then I regrouped, due the working relationship that I have with her pediatrician and the care that she given to her over the years. The doctor also stated that she was tall as a 6 year but she weight as much as a 8 year old, so she could not really tell if the weight was a concern or not. She got me all confused. Now I am supposed to watch her carb intake and give her more fruits and veggies, which she already loves, last year it was how much milk intake she was getting. It is so frustrating. Miss G goes through periods of time when she is a little puffy to when she has a huge growth period and really lean. Now since that visit, I have been limiting her snacks, which tend to be high in carbs and balance them more out oth
