Mommy MoJo: Do You Lose Yourself When You Have a Baby?

When The Chocolate Knot blogger posted the question, " Do You Lose Yourself When You Have A Baby?" on Twitter, I had to think about it. After much thought my response is YES . I noticed after I had my baby, people asked how the baby was doing and not how I was doing or they started calling me by my daughters name instead of my own. It made me feel like I did not exist or that Dana was no longer important. I am sure that is not what people meant, but that is how it made me feel. The real reason that you lose apart of yourself, is because you are giving yourself to your little one. My feeling is that you have to learn to find a balance in being mommy, wifey and just you. I am still learning this balance, which will become even more important once I return back to work. I think that this process becomes  a little easier if you already know who you are prior to having a baby. The whole concept of losing yourself, maybe different for each new mommy. As with each day of learnin

What is in the Baby Bag?

Bag I recently started taking Miss G. out more since she is a little older. I remember when I first started taking her out, I was not sure what to put in her diaper bag. I guessed on what items I needed and I think that I even might have over packed. Here is a list provided by  The Bump , that I have found helpful so that I am not packing the whole house for an outing.  This list can be modified for your length of trip or the number of children that you have. Remember that you have to check and update the items in the bag once they are used or as the child's needs change. [ ] Diapers (one for every two hours and a few extra) [ ] Diaper wipes in a zipper bag (these also work as hand wipes for mommy) [ ] Changing pad [ ] Diaper cream [ ] Plastic bags for dirty clothes and diapers [ ] 1-2 changes of clothes [ ] Shirt or jacket for baby and mommy [ ] Blanket [ ] Hat for sun or cold [ ] Bottles and formula (for a lighter load, measure powdered formula into clean b

I Feel Pretty

Well, you know after having a baby, you may not be feeling your best. I have been feeling pretty good, but I really need to get back into my diva mood. To assist with my transition for mommy to divatastic-momma I recently made a couple of purchases. I love my new Coach purse and I got it for a great deal. I would like a fresh face for spring and summer. I have a pink lip gloss that I was given to wear on my wedding day that I really like. Since that lip gloss was purchased for me and is Giorgio Armani, I needed to find another alternative. I found a great color at the MAC counter called Lovestruck. I also purchased some of the old standards of Oh Baby and clear lipglass. The make-up lady's face looked so nice and fresh and not overdone and I complimented her on it, so she gave me so make-up tips. The tips were greatly appreciated and seem easy to do. We will see how I do once I try them with the time that I have to get ready with the new baby. I have several different types o

My Chair Is Now Her Chair

My chair This is my little rocking chair  I had as a child. I remember it being in my room and me sitting in it. It made me feel big because my mom had a recliner like it in our tv room.  My mom recently had the chair recovered so that Miss G. can have it in her room. It looks wonderful and I can not wait to see her playing in it. It is really nice to be able to pass something down from my childhood to hopefully become special in her childhood. Her chair

Miss G. is 2 Months

( Sorry folks not sure about sharing her totally on the internet yet) Size of Miss G.:  Miss G. is currently 10 pounds 8 ounces. She is 21 1/2 inches long. The doctor stated that she is in her 50% and right on track. Clothes: Her newborn clothes are becoming a little snug. She is still where some of them but mostly she is wearing 0-3 months, even though the 3-6 months are still a little big on her. We have moved from newborn diapers to 1's. The newborns with turning into bikinis or baby thongs on her. Movement: We just started tummy time and I am not sure if she really likes it. She does try to hold her head up when we do it. She wiggles when you hold her. Her father and i enjoy making her dance ( for our own enjoyment). Baby stuff: She currently has cradle cap and baby acne. I think that I have pretty well with getting most of the cradle cap by massaging her head with olive oil (which she seems to like) then brushing it through the dry patches before washing
