Show Us Your Dress

Kelly's Korner she has a series of " Show us your....". This week it was show us your dress. I thought sure, why not. I love my wedding dress. Here it is.... My dress was such a steal. It was not what I initially what I wanted but I love it and got so many compliments. It was so pretty and it was so comfortable...yes I said comfortable. I loved it....especially the shrug and my sash that my mom made for me. My dress has a lace over coat with an attached train. I did not want to wear it all night I wanted to have fun and dance, so my mom made the sash and shrug in my wedding colors. I got lots of compliments on how I changed before the reception. My mom I can called my wedding dress," a two-fer" since I had two different looks for the wedding. My mom making the shrug and sash is so special to me and one of the wonderful mementos of my wedding. Since I have only been married for a short time so from time to time I put the sash and the shrug on and walk around th

The Georgia Peaches are Back

They may be Georgia peaches..but they are not always sweet. I know that I watch alot of mindless TV....but I could not wait to see what the Real Housewives of Atlanta had going for them this season. From the real housewives series that Bravo TV has, this one is the best. With all of the drama that they had last season, I can wait to see what they do every Thursday. Check them out here .

Things to Do....3 Books Read

I do not think that this was a really fair"thing to do", since I love to read. I tend to read more in the summer when there is nothing on TV. I have already recapped one of the books that I read" Basketball Jones" by E. Lynn Harris. Click here to see what I say about it. E.Lynn Harris was one of my favorite authors and I am sad to say that he passed away in this past weekend. He will truly be missed in the literary world. The second book that I read this summer was, "Queen of Babble Gets Hitched" by Meg Cabot. I happened to walk upon this book at the library and the cover was interesting so I checked out the book. After reading it, it made me want to read the other ones in the series. I did not read them in the right order, this one was the actually the third one in the series. The story follows a girl named Lizzie's journey through her romantic relationship between two best friends, her budding wedding dress business and her wild family. It is a lig

Cupcakes

On Saturday was my church's annual picnic. Since I am apart of my women fellowship at my church, the women were responsible for bring desserts. As I type that last statement, it sounds so sexiest. Why are the women bringing desserts and not the men? Maybe because we do not want a bunch of store bought stuff....as I digress. Doing my part from the picnic, I created some cupcakes. I am really obsessed with them right now. Making these cupcakes allowed me to feed my obsession, but it also gave me practice on some of my decorating techniques and I do need practice. When making these cupcakes I got use one of the tips that we did not use in class, but it was tip that my mom found on sale. It was a leaf tip. It was the first time that I used this tip and I think that I did pretty good using it. I used my swirl technique and made the star flowers on top of the cupcake. I felt so polished when I started putting them into the cake box to take to church. I had some extra cupcakes and t

Here Come the Clowns

Thursday was week three of my Wilton class. This week we worked on the second part of the rose, shell border, and making cartoon faces. I really enjoyed making the teddy bear face. We also worked on some of other flowers like the star flower and the spiral flower. I really enjoyed making the spiral flowers. This week I had the right consistency of my medium icing that is used to decorate with. This week we had the option of bringing a cake or cupcakes. I chose to make cupcakes. Besides being cute, they are just easier to make. We had to use the clown heads for this cake. My mom had saved some of my from my clown cake when I was young and I recycled those, but I had to purchase some more. You know what they look exactly the same. I guess why mess up a good thing. My instructor taught us how to make the pretty swirl that you see on the cakes at the grocery store. I love knowing this skill. I think it makes your cupcakes look so pretty. We then learned how to make the body of the cl

6 Ways of Happiness

As I was reading some of the blog on my "Sweeping Reads " list, I went to " Heather Drive " and saw that I was tagged. I was so excited. I really wish that this was the Oprah's list of favorite things list (she has some great stuff on her list)...but it is my list so it is important just the same. Here are the rules to this tag: Mention and link back to the person that tagged you. ( I was tagged by Heather at Heather Drive ...Thanks Heather.) List 6 little things that make you happy. Tag 6 other bloggers and let them know "They're it" When I started this post I was thinking of some of the things that make me happy and I began to think that, "Geez this is hard". There are lots of things that make me happy, it just depends upon the moment or the situation. I guess I will give it a try..... Shoes -- I love all sorts of shoes, especially flip flops. I think it is because I have always been a B.B.C. and fashion has not always been accommoda

B.B.C. Thursday-- Anthem

To be an B.B.C you have to be confident in you, no matter what others think. This at times is hard, due to societies view of what pretty and beautiful is. What we all need to remember we are all beautiful and have been created so. I think that this song should be an anthem for all women especially B.B.C's....take a listen.

Updates

I have not updated you on some of the things that I had previously posted about. Here we go... My office held their Cake Smackdown a couple of weeks ago. I used a lemon poppy seed cake recipe that I found on the Heather Drive blog that I read. Thanks Heather. Even though I did not win, I got lots of compliments on my cake. There were lots of yummy cakes there to and I tasted several of them. We had a wonderful time at our annual 4th of July party . Two of my sister-in-laws even came in town to share it with us. We had lots of fun and lots of fun. If was full of great conversation and laughter. I must remember that my BFF 's jell-o shots are not my friend. I think that is all the updates right now. Keep reading, to see what else is going on in my life.

Rainbow Cake

I started taking Wilton I cake decorating classes. I always enjoyed baking, so I wanted to make my cakes look better. Last week we just talked about the different tools we would need for the class and this Thursday we put those tools to use. We made the Wilton rainbow cake this week. We had to bring a cake already iced. I made the blue icing at home. When icing our cakes we are suppose to use the thin icing. When I took my icing to class so that the teacher could make sure that we had the right consistency of thin, middle and thick icing. Well, of course my icing had a little trouble. What I thought was medium was really my thin and my thin was really too thin. Which would give the reason why I had a little t rouble with icing my cake and it did not really crust over. These stars took alot of time to do. They look really pretty once done. My hands got tired as I tried to create all of these little stars trying to make them just perfect so that you could not see any of the blue in t

B.B.C. Thursday-- The Best Jeans Ever

I have to say I love jeans, but when I tried these on I was so excited. I have a little and a big, booty, so I always had to purchase jeans that fit my bottom half and then would leave a big gap around my waist, in which I would either wrap a belt around my waist or just let everyone see my underwear. Lane Bryant's new Right Fit system allows you to select jeans that fit your length, waist and hips. These jeans fit in all the right places. I only purchased pair of these and will probably go back and get some more since they fit so well. Check out www.lanebryant.com or your local store for these and see how they fit for you. P.S. I just checked the website and I saw some of these jeans on sale for $19.99.

I Want One

My husband and I will have lived in our house for about 5 years and we have a few projects planned to spruce it up a bit. One of our first purchases is a new refrigerator. We are getting one like the one in the photo. It is bigger than the one that we currently have and the freezer is on the bottom. We have noticed that when we have gatherings that we do not have enough space in the refrigerator. We have an older refrigerator in the garage, but the freezer works but not the frig so we are getting rid of it. Since everyone is into saving energy, our local electric company AEP is offering a program called Grid Smart, that will give to $25.00 for your old frig and haul it away for free. Sounds great to me...so I signed us up. Check out your area to see if you have this program. The plan is that the frig that we have in the kitchen will go into the garage and the new one will go into the kitchen. I am so excited. I always get excited when I get something new. I realize that as I get olde

Sweeping Reads: Basketball Jones

Author E. Lynn Harris does it again with his current book, " Basketball Jones ". This story has as many twist and turns as Mr. Harris's other books such as A Love of My Own and Too Good to be True . This story takes place is New Orleans where Aldridge Richardson, is an interior designer that wants to volunteer his time, make new friends and spend time with the love of his life. The only problem is, being with the love his life comes with a price. The price is losing himself. He must figure out if loving someone totally is worth not loving himself. I give this book out of 4 out of 5 sweeps. Some parts I thought were predictable, but others kept me on the edge of my seat. I think it is a good summer read. If there is a book that you would like me to review, contact me.

Music Monday--Aerosmith

One of the best bands ever. They put on an awesome concert....loved every minute of seeing them live. Even though the topic of the song is not really upbeat...it is a great one none the less. It might not be the best song to sing while drunk at karaoke night...I might need to think about that next time I go to karaoke with my BF. Happy Monday!!!

Happy 4th of July

Hope you are having a safe and fun 4th of July holiday!!!

Are You a B.B. C?

I have always consider myself a B.B.C. I have never been thin by any means, I probably came out of the womb with curves. I always called my shape an over-blown pop bottle. I got curves and T& A. I have always found them to be assets and have always worked them to my advantage. Even when I lost some weight for my wedding, all it did was make my curves more pronounced. I have always been confident in my skin, some people would say sometimes that it maybe over confident, but not all B.B.C are. In searching the blogging world, there are only a few blogs out there that talk about plus size fashion or B.B.C issues in general. Thursdays, will now be B.B.C Thursday where the B.B.C will be the highlight of the day. If you are interested in becoming a guest blogger or have suggestions on the topic, please feel free to contact me. If you are wondering what B.B.C is it Big, Booty Cutie. (picture found here )
