Wedded Wednesday

Wedded Wednesday is a collaboration of married bloggers sharing their inspirations, anecdotes, struggles and thoughts regarding the amazing union of two separate people, as one. Is you definition of couples time different from your mates? I realized the other day that mine is. My husband loves all aspects of working in the yard. My idea of working in the yard is picking flowers  to make arrangements in the house, selecting what veggies to plant and picking ripe veggies out of the garden. I really do not enjoy doing any of the preparation work, but I will if I have to. The other day Mr. J was preparing the garden for planting and the conversation went like this.... Mr. J: " You coming outside to help me turn over the dirt?" Long pause as I just looked out of our dining room window. Mr. J: " Did you hear me?" Me: "Yes, but I really did not plan on it." Mr. J: " I am waiting on you." Me: " I am not dressed to work in the yard.

Mini Chocolate Chip Cookies

In my pursuit to drop some pounds, I have been looking for recipes that reduce the fat but still have the taste that I am looking for. I found this Weight Watchers Mini Chocolate Chip Cookies. They were really easy to make. If you are doing Weight Watchers, the cookies are 1 point each. Mine might be a little more since I added some chopped pecans to them. They were yummy and smelled good when they were baking. I did not tell anyone in my household that they were not regular chocolate cookies..but it did not seem to matter, because they were eaten up. Ingredients 2 Tbsp butter, softened

Music Monday--Blink 182

This song is funny and the images that go with it always give me a good laugh. My hubby says that this one of my theme songs because I am short. Whatever!! Once the songs gets going, you find yourself singing along and tapping your feet.  Happy Monday.

Sunday Inspiration--Happy Birthday Pac-Man

Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music. - Kristin Wilson, Nintendo, Inc., 1989.  I feel old Pac-Man turned 30 this weekend. Love playing this as a kid and still play it on my X-box today. Great video game. image found here and quote found here

5 Random Weekend Ramblings

1. Are you going to stand in line today to get flip flops at Old Navy for $1.00? I am always ready for a sale and love flip flops, but I can not see myself standing line for flip flops. Besides I think if  I brought another flip flop in the house, my husband would have a fit.  2. I just got done ready Tori Spelling's sTori TELLING. I know, I know I am behind. I really found the book interesting. It was an easy read. I watch her show and of course I watched the original 90210 that she was on. Even though she is a start I think that she seems really down to earth. The book really made me appreciate the relationship that I have with my mother.  I just purchased Mommywood and started reading it. I had to complete the set. 3. Why does every season finale of the shows that I enjoy watching have to take place on the same night and at the same time? Thank goodness for TiVo. 4. Why does healthy food have to be so expensive?  5. Why can't every weekend be a three day weekend? images fou

Fill in the Blank Friday--Fashion

It is Fill in the Blank time again. This weeks is about fashion, in which I love. Here are my thoughts.... One fashion trend that I regret is MC Hammer pants. These pants should have never been made. They made you look like you pooped your pants. One thing that always completes an outfit is jewelry. From putting on a chunky gold bracelet or some fabulous feather earrings, jewelry always allows you to make a statement.  I describe my personal style as ever changing. Sometimes I feel urban, others I am preppy, at times I am sloppy or hippie. My style depends on the day and how I feel and to be realistic it also depends on what I have to iron or not iron when I am getting ready in the morning.  My fashion muses are Sarah Jessica Parker and Jill Scott. I love how each one of these ladies styles are every changing, but their looks are something that  looks comfortable yet chic and that I can recreate on my budget. If I could own one piece of designer clothing it would be ....not ju

Wedded Wednesday on Thursday

Wedded Wednesday is a collaboration of married bloggers sharing their inspirations, anecdotes, struggles and thoughts regarding the amazing union of two separate people, as one. The question on Marital Bless for this Wedded Wednesday was..... " Do you recognize rough patches and communicate through them with your spouse?" I think in every marriage there are rough patches and it does not matter if you have been married for 3 months or for 30 years. I think Mr. J and I are able to communicate when we feel like we are not spending enough time together or if we really do not feel connected.  I think that Mr. J is able to do this more than me. I use more passive aggressive techniques that do not really get my point across but gets his attention and just makes more have to explain more when we do talk things out. I really do not do that often especially since I end up having to explain myself anyway.  Mr. J and I had couples counseling several years before we have mari

It 's My Turn

After all those years of  my mom taking care of me...it is my turn to take care of her. My mom had surgery yesterday and will be in the hospital for a few days then she will be coming to stay with me for her recovery. I did not want her to go to a nursing facility since I would have been up there every hour on the hour, ensuring that she would be recieving the proper care. I think that she will be more comfortable with being in a home enviroment anyway. I am taking a few weeks off  at work so that I can provide care for her. I am sure that everything will be fine and I will be able to do all the things that she wants and needs me to do.The hubby will be around to assist as well. I am glad that I am able to do this for her, it is a small thing that I can do for all that she has done for me.

Weight Loss and Random Ramblings

I weighed in today for The Biggest Loser contest at my job. I lost some weight..check out my ticker on the side. I need to keep it up. In this contest we have to pay $.50 if you maintain or $1.00 if you gain. I am not trying to pay anymore money than the registration fee that I did pay. I have been really watching my food and have been drinking lots of water with lemon. It really helps that we have been having good weather for me to go walking since I have to be gentle on my knees. It is a real motiviation to have co-workers doing it with me as well, we are so competitive, but yet supportive. Whatever works to keep me going, down, down, down. ********************************************************* Why do TV shows start to get really good when the season finale is coming up? Why do foods that are good for you, are always more expensive? Why does the weather always act up, effecting you cable when are really into a TV show? With all the current issues in the United States, how w

Wedded Wednesday

Wedded Wednesday is a collaboration of married bloggers sharing their inspirations, anecdotes, struggles and thoughts regarding the amazing union of two separate people, as one. Do you ever find it hard to share the TV? Mr. J and I have different spaces that we watch TV in which both have TiVo boxes on them to record all our shows. He has his "Man Cave" and I have a nice flat screen upstairs. It is kinda hard to spend time together when one of you want to watch "True Blood"  in the basement and the other wants to watch "Glee" upstairs. To bad there is no, "Glee Blood", not sure if that show would work. This is a true time of compromise. Usually what happens is that we rather spend time together so in the end not we do not watch our TiVo shows when we are watching TV together, but we choose something that we both would watch (or that the other can stand for 30 minutes). It has been working for us. Sometimes the the little lessons learned i

Are You the Biggest Loser?

Since my wedding, I have gained about 8-10 pounds from what I was the day I got married. I am happy about the fact that I did not gain everything back that I lost, but I am not happy about any weight gain. I must admit, I got lazy with my exercise routine this winter and have recently started having issues with my knees that have been preventing my from exercising. To get me back into the groove I have been watching what I have been eating and been walking during my lunch hour. I have actually lost 2 pounds in the last 2 weeks. I have also joined the Biggest Loser contest at my job as motivation and support. I think that the biggest motivation is I want to get in to my cute summer dress and look good in them. I will keep you updated on my progress and let me know if you have any weight loss tips to share.

Music Monday-- Jill Scott

I love, love , love Jill Scott. I can play her cd's over and over. When I saw her in concert, I think that it was one of the best concerts that I ever been to. I am hoping to see her sometime this summer. Hope you are having a Happy Monday.
