Thrifty Thursday: Where Did You Get Those Glasses?

I wear prescription glasses everyday. I like them like wearing jewelry. They help express how I am feeling for the day. Glasses can be cute, but prescription glasses can be expensive, even with insurance. I recently purchased 3 pairs of glasses 2 from Zenni Optical and a pair from Coastal. The pair that I purchased from Zenni Optical , was during their buy one get one pair half off. I had purchased from them before, but could not pass up a deal on two pairs of glasses.  I am always satisfied with my purchaes from them. With shipping, I paid a little under $20.00. I purchased a red and a multi-colored pair from them and like them both alot. My recent purchase clear frames from Coastal was may first purchase from them. I have wanted a all clear pair of frames for some time.I made my purchase was made during their first pair free promotion. During this promotion all I had to pay for was the shipping which was less than $8.00. I love my glasses. This site has designer frames at di...

My New Toy

I know I am late but I just got a new toy and love it. My iPad. I have been talking about getting one for at least a year now and I know that my friends and family were sick of me talking about it. I have been finding new thing to do with it every night since I got it. I love it. If you have and iPad or tablet what do you on yours?

Got yours?

Got mine!

Monkeying Around

My little ones first birthday was a sock monkey theme. I wanted to do something special for the front door that was reasonable to make . I took a straw wreath which was $2.99 then I used my 40% off coupon at Joann Fabric. Then wrapped red and brown yarn around the wreath. I make the wreath monkeylishous by tying a sock monkey that I had purchased at Target at their after Christmas sale, when all items were 50% off. The longest part of creating the wreath was the wrapping process. Wholla, a cheap, quick and easy wreath.

Black Friday Thoughts

I thought this was funny, but true. Enjoy and be safe out there!!                With the kids all nestled snug in their beds                  And visions of Christmas dancing in their heads                          Their tummys full of turkey and Pumpkin pie                      Mom's in the kitchen with a gleam in her eye                           She's got her list, she's checked it twice                        Each sale mapped out it has to be precise                          Her car is gassed up,and she's ready to go ...

I am loving watching the Olympics. I am loving reading Forever Soul Ties by Vanessa Davis Griggs. book I am loving using my Cockpot on a weekly basis.  I am loving that my little has such loving godparents. I am loving the Cherry Berry Chiller at McDonalds. I am loving the 10 for 10 at Kroger.  I am loving the possibilities of each new day.

Clutch

I am a winner.  I won this beautiful clutch on Mrs. Monologues when she held a giveaway for Katie Reese Designs . It is so cute and I can not wait to find a cute outfit to wear it with. She has a website and has lots of pretty handmade items for women and babies. I have seen some cute things for Miss G that I might get. Check her out.

Miss G. Essentials

I wrote a post a  few weeks ago about some of the things that I thought were good to have for my little one. Here is a list of a few more..   I am nursing, but I have to supplement with formula for my little one to be satisfied. We started out with another brand of bottle but it seemed to get be allowing Ms. G. to suck into much air which was giving her lots of gas and making her uncomfortable, so I switched. It was a good switch. The Dr. Browns' bottles allow her to suck in less air as well as still encouraging her to nurse.   Yes this is a mini-fridge . We have a mini-fridge in her room. After my friend told me the story of her almost falling down the stairs with her baby trying to get a bottle in the middle of the night, I decided to get a fridge. It has worked out very well for us and when we are done with it the hubby can put it in the man cave.  A bottle warmer. I received this Munchkin bottle warmer as a baby shower gift. We have it in ...

I Feel Pretty

Well, you know after having a baby, you may not be feeling your best. I have been feeling pretty good, but I really need to get back into my diva mood. To assist with my transition for mommy to divatastic-momma I recently made a couple of purchases. I love my new Coach purse and I got it for a great deal. I would like a fresh face for spring and summer. I have a pink lip gloss that I was given to wear on my wedding day that I really like. Since that lip gloss was purchased for me and is Giorgio Armani, I needed to find another alternative. I found a great color at the MAC counter called Lovestruck. I also purchased some of the old standards of Oh Baby and clear lipglass. The make-up lady's face looked so nice and fresh and not overdone and I complimented her on it, so she gave me so make-up tips. The tips were greatly appreciated and seem easy to do. We will see how I do once I try them with the time that I have to get ready with the new baby. I have several different types o...

Ms. G Necessities

I knew that babies needed lots of things and since my TV room is starting to look like a child care center kinda solidifies it. I did not realize that some of things that need would to make my life much easier. Here are few of Ms. G and I favorite  baby things ( we are trying to carry on where Oprah left off). I am loving the Boppy . I was luck enough to have a friend give me one she was no longer using and I also received one as a shower gift. I have one on each level of the house. Miss G. likes to lay in it and watch  TV with me, like she is really watching it. It is useful for feeding. Another girlfriend gave me this Fisher Price Open Top Take Along swing, that she was no longer using. It is so nice and the little one loves swinging in it.  Love these wipes . They clean so well but are gentle on the little Miss's skin. A Pack and Play is a must for any new mother. I really like the one that I have since it has a changing table attached to it. It has...

Weekend Sweeps

Friday Had a good day at work. On that evening, I went to my high school homecoming. When I go to homecoming, I usually march with our alumni band, which I did this year.It was fun. My friend, B, went with me to see the sights since my hubby made such a big deal about. It was fun as usual and it was great to see all of my high school friends. I really am amazed that my band director is still there. Saturday I spent the day with my mom. When she arrived at my house, she came bearing gifts from my favorite bakery. Ummmm........donuts.After the euphoria of the donut, we went to the Country Living Fair . It was really fun and I saw a lot of great ideas.I found a few goodies like candles, fall decorations and some nick-knacks. Here are some photos from our day.... I think that I want to do something like this on my buffet for fall.  We visited a few other stores  after the fair and then had a good dinner at Red Lobster. It was yummy. I was tired after such a busy da...

Weekend Sweeps

Friday Have a busy day at work. Went and hung out with my friend Lynnette. We watched a little TV, had a good salad for dinner and yummy ice cream sundaes for dessert. Saturday Did some cleaning. Attend my friend Krista's son Joe 3rd birthday party. Wow it is hard to believe that he is 3.He had a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles theme. I did not think that kids were into them. His mom did a great job with the decor, especially the green balloons that she turned in to ninja turtles with felt masks. I went to the flea market with my mom and found a few things after the party.   Here is what I picked up...... Love this jar. I really haggled to get the price down to what I was willing to pay. It looks great in my kitchen  Found these great letters that I am going to use in a future project.  I also found several antique poodle pins. I kinda of collect them. I like to look for different ones so that I have unique ones to wear to my sororoty meetings since it is our ma...

Weekend Sweeps

Friday Had pizza and a movie with my little friend Ben.We watched Tron and Little Fockers. I was surprised that I really enjoyed both of them. The weather started to get stormy and I hurried home. I hate storms. Luckily, the hubby was home from work early. Saturday Attended my last sorority meeting of the year. I spent the day with one of my "besties" Bev. We went to lunch at "our spot" El Vaquero. We then did some window shopping and of course hit the Bath and Body Works sale.I think I did a little damage. Here is some of my hubby's hard work in the back yard. I must have did a little to much shopping, because when I got home I took a long nap.  Luckily, once my nap was done my husband was done working in the yard, so we were able to spend a little time together just vegging out. Sunday Attended my friend Bev's early morning service. I wish my church had an early morning service. Her  church service started at 9:45 am and I was able to  attend s...

Weekend Sweeps: Sistercation and my birthday

This weekend I had my annual sorority regional conference. It started Thursday evening and last until Sunday. I spent the weekend going to meeting that updated me on the sorority's business, enjoyed learning new strolls, supporting our undergrads and had time to bond with my sorority sisters. I look forward to this weekend every year, especially seeing sorority sisters that I do not see all year and picking up some new sorority gear. Click here to see more. On Sunday it was my birthday and on the way home from the conference we went to Ikea and a local outlet mall and I picked up a few new items at Coach and Perfumania. We stopped at my mom's house to have some cake. It was nice having everyone sing happy birthday to me. Once I got home, the hubby took me out to dinner for my birthday. After dinner we came home and watched CSI Miami. What a relaxing day. I had a great weekend and I hope that you did too.

Weekend Sweeps

Friday I attended a Party Walk, a  dance competition between sorority and fraternities, with some of my sorority sisters. It was fun. I must say that I felt a little more "mature" than some of the people in the audience, especially when one of the guys did not know one of the songs that was being played from the movie School Daze . If you have not seen it, it is a must to watch. Saturday Started the day with the hubby making me some breakfast. It was really sweet of him. I guess I was half sleep when he asked me how I wanted my eggs, but when he called my name from the kitchen I was surprised. We ate breakfast together and caught up on some DVR shows. After my fill breakfast, I went to the gym with my friend Kim and had a good work out I needed it after breakfast. Had a little girl time with my mom. Went and did a little shopping. She purchased a yummy chocolate covered apple from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and I got one of the their chocolate cover pretzels wit...

Weekend Sweeps

Friday Hubby and I went to the couples bowling event at Rue 63 with my church. It was their Valentine's Day outing. It was so much fun. I got see some of the older couples in my church in a different light, they were fun. There were a couple of couples bowling in our lane who had been married 64 and 23 years. That was impressive and inspiring. It was great to see how they interacted with one another after all of those years.  We were so tired and sore from 3 games of bowling, we immediately came home and went to bed. I thought that I was going to go to sleep when coming home, but I ended up watching Purple Rain until 1:00am. Saturday Had a sorority meeting and then had an activitiy at church. Did a little consignment shop shopping with my mom after we went to get some heart shaped cream filled donuts from Jolly Pirate. At teh consignment shops, I was looking for a few things for my upcoming sorority conference as well as my new obsession with obtaining a Vera Bradl...
