What is That Doing in Your Yard?

A couple of weeks ago, I came home and noticed a for sale sign in the yard of my neighbors across the street.  I guess I should have gotten a hint when, I saw the house getting paint, but I just thought that they were improving their house. Well they were...to sell. I know that it is the time of year to sell especially with the school year about to begin in my school district. It got me thinking, why are you selling? Is there something going on in the neighborhood I should know about? Was I not a good neighbor? When I see a for sale it also makes me think about, will I ever sell my house? I asked my husband about it and the response I got was, "No, I worked to hard on my yard." Oh, I thought in my head. I really like my neighborhood and the most of the people in my court have been there for several years. I have seen people come and go due to foreclosure(yes I am the nosy neighbor that looks things up on the auditors site), new jobs or just selling due purchasing another...

Weekend Sweeps

Friday After a busy day working in my cube, I went to my line dancing class. It was a good workout. Came home and relaxed. Saturday Did some housework. Took a long nap. Attend a picnic with my hubby and my good friend Danielle. I really did not eat anything at picnic, but a ear of corn. Once leaving the picnic, Danielle and I had some good conversation over the some good food at Applebee's. Came home from the picnic and of course the hubby ate the rest of my leftovers from Applebee's  as I fell asleep to the Golden Girls. Sunday Attend church. It was youth day, but it was still a good message given. Came home and made some dinner and did  a little straightening up of the home. I tried to relax a little before I needed to get ready for the evenings events. Me......on the way to the concert. In the evening, the hubby and I went to the Sade concert. We had paid for the cheaper seats since the tickets were a little on the high side, but what a surprise  when got...

Goodnight Sleep

found The hubby and  I just purchased a new bed. I can not wait for it to be delivered. It is an upgrade from a queen to a king. We just got the bed and the mattress since our dressers are still good and match the new bed.  I can not wait for it to come. It has extra storage underneath the bed which we need. I just need to get some additional sheets that fit. This kinda of an anniversary gift to each  other. Since we have gotten a new bed, which is wider than the bed we currently have, I do not think that our night stands are going to fit.  I have been searching the Internet to find some alternatives for our current nightstands. I have found this one so far.  Becky at Piece O' Cake Designs Blog, had her husband  make these. They look very simple and I think that the hubby would be able to make these or something like them. I love decorating our home and I look forward to making our new bedroom nice and cozy.

Wedded Wednesday-- Painting

We have been in our home 6 years this upcoming this October. We decided that we needed to do some sprucing up of the house, so we painted the entire downstairs of our home this past weekend. I have learned through this weekend, that I do not like painting, but enjoy the results once it is done. This might be the reason why when we moved into our home, Mr. J painted every room in the house by himself except for our bedroom in which I painted.  During this process we both found out our painting strengths, such as I am the paint roller and Mr. J is the trim guy.  We had some fun while painting and paint was spilled, trim was accidentally painted, but we kept each other laughing and the conversation flowing as we grew tired of painting or maybe it was just the paint fumes getting to us. The best part, besides my home looking good, was spending time with Mr. J. Check out other Wedded Wednesday bloggers at These Prices .

Hit the Tile Jackpot

As I have stated before, I have some unfinished home improvement projects that need to be completed. Well, one just got on the way. I woke up this past Saturday and felt like going to my local Habitat for Humanity ReStores . It is a great store. You never know what you are going to find, if anything. This trip I hit the tile jackpot. There were all sorts of different tiles there. I have never seen so many tiles within this particluar store. Of course, the hubby was at home and I did not want to make this purchase without him co-signing since I could not bring the tiles back once purchased. So, there I was taking pictures on my Blackberry of all the different tiles that I liked and were texting them to the hubby who was still half sleep. I could not pass up the deal, especially  since the title was $10.00 per box.  I have priced tile in the past and there was no way we were going to be able to redo our downstairs bathroom for that price. In the end, the tile purchased worked ou...

6 Ways of Happiness

As I was reading some of the blog on my "Sweeping Reads " list, I went to " Heather Drive " and saw that I was tagged. I was so excited. I really wish that this was the Oprah's list of favorite things list (she has some great stuff on her list)...but it is my list so it is important just the same. Here are the rules to this tag: Mention and link back to the person that tagged you. ( I was tagged by Heather at Heather Drive ...Thanks Heather.) List 6 little things that make you happy. Tag 6 other bloggers and let them know "They're it" When I started this post I was thinking of some of the things that make me happy and I began to think that, "Geez this is hard". There are lots of things that make me happy, it just depends upon the moment or the situation. I guess I will give it a try..... Shoes -- I love all sorts of shoes, especially flip flops. I think it is because I have always been a B.B.C. and fashion has not always been accommoda...

I Want One

My husband and I will have lived in our house for about 5 years and we have a few projects planned to spruce it up a bit. One of our first purchases is a new refrigerator. We are getting one like the one in the photo. It is bigger than the one that we currently have and the freezer is on the bottom. We have noticed that when we have gatherings that we do not have enough space in the refrigerator. We have an older refrigerator in the garage, but the freezer works but not the frig so we are getting rid of it. Since everyone is into saving energy, our local electric company AEP is offering a program called Grid Smart, that will give to $25.00 for your old frig and haul it away for free. Sounds great to me...so I signed us up. Check out your area to see if you have this program. The plan is that the frig that we have in the kitchen will go into the garage and the new one will go into the kitchen. I am so excited. I always get excited when I get something new. I realize that as I get olde...

Peonies

Peonies. I love the peony flower. I picked these from my mom's yard on Saturday. I think that they look great in my dining room. Mr. J does not really like to peonies, because they always have to big, black ants on them but he accommodates me since I love them so. When I brought these home, I set them outside on our deck for a while so that the ants could get back to nature and not make a home in my house. Here are my peonies. I planted these last fall in my backyard. They are off shoots from my mom's. They do not have any buds or blooms on them yet, I hope that they do by they end of the summer, so that I am able to pick more of these pretty flowers to display in my house.
