Baby Holiday Decorating

I love Christmas time. I really am looking forward to this year since it will be Miss G. first Christmas. I know that she does not know what Christmas is yet, but I still want her to experience it. I try to decorate most areas of the house for the holidays including the bathrooms and bedrooms. I thought that Miss G. bedroom should not be any different. About two weekends ago, JoAnn Fabrics had a Friends and Family day with great sales on holiday fabric and good coupons for extra percentages off. I did not realize how much holiday fabric choices there were. I kinda got overwhelmed, but I finally made some selections. These are the festive fabrics will be turned into crib bedding and change pad covers, making her room ready for the holidays. My mom has been making different changing pad covers for her room since her birth but the sheets are new. I wanted to assist in making them, but I do not think that my mom wants me to touch her sewing machine. However they get made, I am sure t...

Kitchen Freshen Up

It has been 2 years since I have painted my kitchen walls yellow and I think that it is time for a little change. I have fallen in love with grey paint since I painted my office grey. Here are a few pics I found that show the look that I am going for in my kitchen. Indulgy Garden Web I really like this kitchen, since my kitchen currently has black counter tops and white cabinets. It definitely gives me an idea of what the room would look like. GAP Interiors I like this one because the island is a darker shade of grey. I have always wanted to paint my kitchen island a different color and this gives me an opportunity to do it.  My plan to get this done before the end of the month, so that we can start on the downstairs bathroom that we have talked about doing since we have moved into the house 6 years ago . I will post about my progress in the kitchen.

Finally...... Miss G. Room is Complete

Well, I finally finished Miss G.'s room, which is kinda sad since she has been here almost 4 months now. I have been collecting letter for her room, since I found out I was pregnant. I got some at the craft store that I painted, at the flea market and some of them were painted and colored by the participates at one of my baby . I just need to figure out how to get her letters up on the wall, but it seemed so complicated and to be honest measuring is not my forte. I looked at Heather's wall at Heather Drive to see how she did the letters in her daughters play room, but it still seemed overwhelming. I just decided to put them randomly on the wall in her room. I think that look pretty good and I like the way that they vary in size and color. I just wanted to share that I got one more thing off my list.

My Chair Is Now Her Chair

My chair This is my little rocking chair  I had as a child. I remember it being in my room and me sitting in it. It made me feel big because my mom had a recliner like it in our tv room.  My mom recently had the chair recovered so that Miss G. can have it in her room. It looks wonderful and I can not wait to see her playing in it. It is really nice to be able to pass something down from my childhood to hopefully become special in her childhood. Her chair

Baby J's Closet Dividers

I saw an idea for  baby closet dividers.  At first, I was going to purchase some on eBay,  but  I stumbled upon some other crafty bloggers who were making their own, so I decided to give it a shot. I bought these wooden tag holders at Michael's  for $.50 a piece. Of course, I used my weekly Michael's coupon. I used regular acrylic paint in colors that match Baby J's room. Here is the finished product. I just added coordinating ribbon to the top to hang on the closet bar. I think that not only are they cute but will be really helpful.

24 Weeks

I swear that I looked bigger last week, but it might be because I had on a stripped shirt. Who knows. Here is this weeks update.  Size of Baby: Baby J is the length of an ear of corn. Still pretty small in size, but getting bigger each week. Maternity Clothes: Wearing whatever is comfortable.  Gender: Still don't know. Maybe I will be able to see in a week or so. Movement: Baby J is a little mover, which is a good thing. Sometimes when Baby J moves kinda gives a weird feeling in my throat. Sleep: Getting more energy back, but some days I really just want to sleep. What I Miss: Being able to go, go, go. I try to complete task around the house, but I have to do a little and then stop and start again. I end up getting the task done but it just takes me a little bit longer.

Baby Decor

Since my weekend was not really that exciting and I really did not have much to share in my Weekend Sweeps, I decided to share some of the baby room decor photos that  I like. Baby Room Design This Chic  Cheap Nursery is so calming. I really like the color scheme. It might be because we just painted our guest room in this color grey. Baby Bassinets Dream Nursery As you can tell, I really do not want some thing that too "kiddy". I would like a baby room that reflects the rest of the house, but also is calming to the baby. Since we do not know what Baby J is yet, we have not really looked at colors yet.  We have a little time with the room, but I would like to have it done by no later than December. We will see.

Red, White and the J's

The Evite's have gone out , yes I did say Evite, and now the planning needs to begin. The hubby and I have two annual parties a year, New Year's Eve and the 4th of July. With having a party every year, as a host you  have to change things up to make things fresh, which means Mr. J and I  have to step our game.  Here is what we did last year. I like some of the things that I did and may do some of them again, but I am looking for new decoration and food ideas. I saw some ideas on From Marriage to Motherhood and began to get inspired.  I  also found these ideas...........   I found these ideas at the Entertain Exchange . I really like them all and they seem so simple, but make a statement.  I found these on the All You website. I would like to make several different sizes of these to hang from the ceiling. The instructions looking simple enough and I think that I already have items needed to create these. I also found some ideas at Celebration...

Cubicle Decor

Well, I posted a few weeks ago that my office was moving to a new site and that we were going cubicle. I received some suggestions from my fellow bloggers on how to make my space nicer. Well,  I knew that I wanted to use a black and white theme so that it would go with the greyness of the walls. I went to my local Staples and found this pretty black and white damask pattern paper. I knew it was prefect for my wall. Here are some photos: I took the paper I found and stapled it all across my walls. I even found a cup with my first initial and the same pattern. You can not see it, but there is some open shelving that I took some black and white damask fabric and made a curtain and hung it up with a tension bar. On another journey back to Staples was looking for a folder holder, like the one above, but lucked out when a co-worker said that she did not need it anymore and gave to me....anyway getting back to my story going to Staples. On my second visit,  I found these folders t...

Cubicle + Office = Sucks

My office is moving this weekend into a new building. New building....yeah. Not having a door anymore....sucks. I have had an office that I have shared with my co-worker Lisa for the last 2 years. We have created a relaxed work space with mellow lighting, soft music, laughs and a lovely door that we kept shut. Now I am moving into a little grey box, with no door. I am going to miss my door and my co-worker even though she will be on the other side of my grey box. I have started to gather items to decorate my new work space. I am looking for items with color. I  have few items like a lamp, cool pen and envelope holders and pictures.  I need something else to add color, so I do not feel like I am living in a cell but a space for conducive work to take place. I will check out somethings this weekend that may work in my space to make it more homey. If you work in cubicle is there anything that you did to make your space better? Have a great T.G.I.F. image found here

Show Off Your Holiday Decorations

I love decorating for the holidays and am always interested in seeing how others decorate their homes. I always get some great ideas.  Below are a few of the decorations that I have in my home. This is a table that is located in the foyer as you enter our house.I just took one of the vases from my wedding and filled it with ornaments and place a poinsettia garland around it. I took one of my stockings that some made for me and placed to hang from the table. This is my dining room table. I found these mirrored trees and clear snowman at my local dollar store. I was given this Martha Stewart tablecloth last Christmas. It is pretty and has silver snowflakes around the edge of the tablecloth. I then took the fake snow and cut it to make it into a table runner. I took various snow flake ornaments and hung them from our light fixture above our dining room table. It gives the room a little sparkle. This is the largest tree in the house. It sits in our living ro...

Christmas is Coming

Today is December 1st, which means that there are 24 days until Christmas day. This upcoming weekend I am planning on putting up my Christmas decorations. I have already started by putting up my Christmas flag on my flag pole, hanging up the wreath and changing the outdoor bulbs to red and green. I have some thoughts about the what I want to do this year and am excited about it. I bought some new ornanments during my Black Friday shopping and at a craft show that I attended this past weekend. I really enjoy all the Christmas lights and decorations. I will make sure that I post some pictures of my decorations next week. How are you decorating your home for the holidays? image found here

It's The Great Halloween Party, Mrs. J

I think that my Halloween party was a great hit. I had so much fun and I think that my friends did to. All of my guest showed up with some cool costumes and the ones that boycotted wearing one had to pick something from my costume box. We played games  and had great conversation. I do not think that everyone who attended my party, knew how much I enjoyed Halloween. I had several comments about the my decor and the food that I had. My costume was great. My mommy made it for me. I think that I made a good Dorothy. I think that I was a mix of Judy Garland from The Wizard of Oz and Diana Ross from The Wiz. I used my Pound Puppies from my childhood for my Toto. Since I had 2 dogs, one was Toto and the other was Tutu. The pot, which I used as a punch bowl, had a fake leg hanging out of which took people by surprise when they walked into my dining room. Of course the punch was red and I added dry ice for the smoke effect. The label on the outside of the pot, was from the dolla...

Halloween Thoughts

I really enjoyed  preparing and having my Halloween party. I am already looking for more ideas for next years party (think I am going to make it an annual event). When trying to find some inspiration and some great Halloween deals  out there now for next years party, I found this article at Elizabth Ann Designs about pumpkin painting. I just use this idea to decorate for Halloween and as an activity at my party. Check out the blog to find some inspiration of your own. Do you have any Halloween or fall decorating ideas that you want to share?
