Illumination Entertainment Minions: Miss G. Review

Minions Miss G. and her girlfriends went to see Minions today. She sat through the entire movie with her popcorn, Icee and fruit snacks. She talked about it all the way home, so I thought that she could give a review of the movie. She had seen the commercials  on the TV and keep asking on when she was going. She would point out all the Minion images on her yogurt, in the paper and on the DVD box of Despicable Me 1 and 2 see we own them. I did not dare tell her that we were going, until it was time to go to see the movie. As we were getting ready for bed about to read a book, she began to ask me when I going to take her Build a Bear to get her Minion and when I was going to make her Minion skirt and sheets that she wanted, I decided to redirect her and ask her a few questions about the movie. (Don't worry no spoilers in this review) Mom: What was the movie about? Miss G: Looking for a bad guy. Mom: What do you like about the movie? Miss G: It was fun. They fl...

Valentine's Day Wrap Up

Miss G. had her Valentine's Day party on Wednesday at the childcare since she only attends 3 days a week. She did enjoy some holiday treats with a heart shaped balloon and sucker after her morning doctors appointment. With all the recuperating from the holidays and all the bad weather we have been having  the hubby and I really have not had a date night, so this was the perfect opportunity. I decided to take the whole day off since the little one had a doctors appointment in the morning, which also allowed us to go early enough to beat the crowds. We went to The Cheesecake Factory for dinner and amazingly only had a 15  minute wait. I am glad we got there when we did because it wait was almost 25-45 minutes when we were being seated. It was nice having a meal, without having to order for someone on a kids menu. When we were leaving the restaurant, it was snowing, of course. Then I received an alert on my phone that we were under a level 1 snow emergency, but I ...

Weekend Sweep and a Sweeping Hodgepodge

On Friday , I got off work and went and visited my little cousin Jisiah. He is so cute and I enjoyed my visited with him. After my visit I went home and quickly packed and hit the road to my sorority meeting. It was the first time that I stayed out in a hotel by myself out of town, and I must say that I do not liked it. Luckily if anything happened my husbands family was near by. . Saturday , I woke up earlier to get to my area meeting for my sorority were I was going to be presenting on our AIDS/HIV initiative. It was nice to see all of my sorority sisters for near and far and I really obtained some important information. After the meeting I went and visited with my mother-in-law and my sister-in-law before I got back on the road home. I got home in good time and was able to spend some time with the hubby before falling asleep on the couch. Sunday , started out as usual with attending church. After church, I went and did some grocery shopping. Once home I prepared Sunday dinner and al...

Music Monday: Kelly Price

I heard this song in the movie, Tyler Perry's Madea Big Happy Family when I saw it in the opening weekend. I have rediscovered it when I purchased the DVD last weekend. I am glad to hear a new song from Kelly Price, I have not hear anything from her in awhile (unless I just missed it). Hope that you are not "Tired" and are having a happy Monday !!!

5 Random Thoughts

1. Did you Project Runway last night? I did. 2 . Have you finished any of your summer reads? I have one down, review to come,  and three more to go. I have noticed that I have been reading more magazines while sitting on the deck this summer. 3.I like the warmth of summer, but the heat advisories are a little ridiculous. I guess I should be be quiet because I will want the warmth in about 6 months. 4. I can not believe the month will be over in three days. 5. The Smurfs were cute as a cartoon when I was little, but they seem a little creepy now.  cute Smurfs     kinda creepy Smurfs                                                                                                       ...

Friday Went to line dancing class. Came home and had a brief dinner and rested. I attended a wine sip with some of my friends and sorors. It was a relaxing environment and the conversation was great. After my little evening out, I came home and passed out to the Golden Girls (seems to be becoming a Friday night routine). Saturday Went to the early show of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. It was wonderful and just like the book. I wish she would write another book so that we can continue the story, but we'll see if J.K Rowling does. She just might surprise us. HP2 Went to the grocery store and did a little house work. Hubby and I ended up going to Chili's for dinner and had Graeter's Ice Cream for a little dessert. Love Chili's chicken poppers. The mint chocolate chip and chocolate chip cookie dough was so good. Friday I started my extended holiday weekend. I went and saw Transformers 3. I went to an 11:00am show so that it was not so crowded. I did not see it in 3-D and I am glad since there was so much action going on I am sure my eyes would be crossing if I saw it in 3-D. I really enjoyed the movie and it was everything that I expected it to be and more. transformers Since I went to the early show, I was able to come home and just veg out the rest of the day.  I must say there are some interesting shows on TV in the early to late afternoon. I did end up going to the grocery store later on that evening so that I would beat the crowds for the weekend shopping. Saturday Spent most of the day cleaning and preparing for our annual 4th of July party which was taking place on Sunday. Hubby and I just hung out and got alot done so that we could really enjoy the party. I made tacos for dinner, my favorite. They were yummy. Sunday Spent the day with family and friends at our annua...

Friday Picture taken on my Blackberry. It is not really clear, but she looked beautiful. I attend a beautiful wedding of Tracy and Adam. It was rainy for part of the afternoon, but luckily it stopped to have their ceremony outside. Congratulations Tracy and Adam. It is interesting to that you always reflect on your own wedding, when you attend another. Saturday Was to attend a picnic but since it decided to storm, I did not. I did some housework and some laundry. The hubby and I invited one of my bridesmaids and her husband, Alena and Kenneth over for dinner. I made some lasagna, salad and a lemon cake. It was yummy. We ended up watching Big Mommas Like Father, Like Son. It was alright and had some funny parts. Sunday Attended church. It was good to see my Pastor at church, since he has been ill for a while. Since I did so well last week with  grilling, I decided to do it again. I grilled some steaks, hamburgers and hot dogs. I even roasted some potatoes and peppers a...

Music Monday: Iron & White

I really love the Twilight series books and not just the movies. When I first heard this song, I thought it was really pretty in the prom scene. I had no clue what the name of the song was, just that it was from Twilight. I discovered it again, with the name of the song,  at a wedding that I attended this past weekend. The couple used this as their first dance song. It was so lovely.  I hope that you are having a happy Monday !! Have a great week. If you are doing a music day every week,  let me know. We can link up.

Friday Had pizza and a movie with my little friend Ben.We watched Tron and Little Fockers. I was surprised that I really enjoyed both of them. The weather started to get stormy and I hurried home. I hate storms. Luckily, the hubby was home from work early. Saturday Attended my last sorority meeting of the year. I spent the day with one of my "besties" Bev. We went to lunch at "our spot" El Vaquero. We then did some window shopping and of course hit the Bath and Body Works sale.I think I did a little damage. Here is some of my hubby's hard work in the back yard. I must have did a little to much shopping, because when I got home I took a long nap.  Luckily, once my nap was done my husband was done working in the yard, so we were able to spend a little time together just vegging out. Sunday Attended my friend Bev's early morning service. I wish my church had an early morning service. Her  church service started at 9:45 am and I was able to  attend s...

Friday Worked a half a day and went to go see the Madea's Big Happy Family. Love going to matinees, less people and cheaper tickets. The movie was funny and I really enjoyed it. After seeing a matinee, I went to MoMo's to sing a little karaoke. I think that my favorite karaoke songs, I sung were Purple Rain, Smells Like Teen Spirit and Billie Jean. Can not wait to do karaoke again. Saturday Went and had a pedicure and my eyebrows arched. Came home and relaxed on the couch and watch some TV. Ended up going to the store with my mom to look for some Easter candy. We went to Target and Toys R Us and they were all sold out of candy. Since when does Easter candy sell out? We found a few things, good ole Target and headed home. We came home and I made tacos for my hubby and mom. My mom and I watch the Ten Commandments, as I sat there and made my critics review of the acting and attire of the film. I should give them the classic a little slack it was made in 1956. Sunday ...

Wedded Wednesday: What Would You Do For Love?

On Monday, the hubby and I watched the movie The Next Three Days. In this movie, Russell Crowe's character comes up with a plan to break his wife out of jail for a murder that she did not commit. ***SPOILER ALERT**** Within this plan, he goes to meet with drug dealers, sells his house and spends hours on planning his wife's escape all so that he could have his family back together. When the movie was getting towards the end, I ask my hubby "Would you do that for me?" We both looked at one another and then I stated, "I would put some money on your books and exhaust all ways that I could through the legal system, but I do not think that I would have enough guts to go to that point." He looks at me and said," Ditto on that, but I would miss you alot and would visit you often." As we talked, I thought about how much I would miss my hubby if something like that happened and how much my life would change. It made me think, "What would I do for lo...

Friday Grabbed a cheese steak and fries from Penn Station and watched Date Night. I thought that the movie was funny. It is a good movie for a rainy day. When I went to bed, I ended up watching Grease 2 until I fell asleep. It took me awhile to fall asleep since I was singing all of the songs in the movie. Saturday Ran a few errands. Saw some interesting things and people in Wal-mart. Got the eye brows arched. Made some vanilla cupcakes with chocolate butter cream icing. West Side Story

Last night I got a call from my mom, stating that one our favorite movies was on, "West Side Story". I love this movie, even though Natalie Wood is not really doing the vocals. I think that it is the ultimate love story. My mom  and I even went to go see it on the big screen a couple of summers ago, it was just as wonderful on the big screen as on my TV. I know all of the songs, word for word (but can not remember to pick up bread from the store). I think that it so timeless. I was so exited when recently Le Target' (Target), had the DVD on sale for $5.00 . I can now watch it over and over without waiting for it to come on cable.  As I watched it, I found myself couch dancing and singing all of the songs. There are several songs from the movie that I really enjoy. Below are just a few of them.... I had though at one time of having this song somewhere in my wedding, but I didn't. I think it is just beautiful. There are two versions of this song in the movie. The...

Holiday Movie Trivia

Did you know that song "White Christmas" was sung in the movies,"Holiday Inn" and "White Christmas". Another fact about both of these movies is that Irving Berlin wrote the music for both of them and Bing Crosby starred in both movies.  I enjoy watching both of these movies during the holidays. Just a few of the many useless facts that I have floating around in my brain. What are some of your favorite holiday movies?

Meet Me at the Movies

I  have been waiting to see this movie since I saw "Twilight". I read all the books with in a week and a half. So if you get to the theatre before me, save  me a few seats  for in the middle section of the theatre. My special friend, Ben, and I will be there with our popcorn ( I am ignoring the recent report of that a medium popcorn is like several fast food meals) , drink and our usual fruit snacks. I will probably be annoyed with all the previews that they will show since I will be so ready to see the movie. If "New Moon" is not your cup of tea, the movies "Precious" and "The Blind Side" also come out today. I will be seeing "Precious" on Sunday with my sorority sisters and I will probably see "The Blind Side" sometime during  the Thanksgiving weekend. I love going to the movies, my hubby on the other hand does not. He will go if I ask, but most of the time he wants to rent a movie since he feels he has a "movie t...
