West Side Story

Last night I got a call from my mom, stating that one our favorite movies was on, "West Side Story". I love this movie, even though Natalie Wood is not really doing the vocals. I think that it is the ultimate love story. My mom  and I even went to go see it on the big screen a couple of summers ago, it was just as wonderful on the big screen as on my TV. I know all of the songs, word for word (but can not remember to pick up bread from the store). I think that it so timeless. I was so exited when recently Le Target' (Target), had the DVD on sale for $5.00. I can now watch it over and over without waiting for it to come on cable.  As I watched it, I found myself couch dancing and singing all of the songs. There are several songs from the movie that I really enjoy. Below are just a few of them....

I had though at one time of having this song somewhere in my wedding, but I didn't. I think it is just beautiful.

There are two versions of this song in the movie. The first version just has Toni and Maria singing, but this has the whole cast singing parts of the movie.

This is the best performance of Rita Moreno. When I first saw this as a kid I said, " Hey that is the lady from The Electric Company" (I am really dating myself). She won a Tony for this movie.

I am glad my mom called...it made for a fun relaxing evening. Are there any movies that you like or have seen hundreds of times and watch like it is the first time? Happy Hump Day!!!

It's funny you mention Electric Company. My fiance has a six year old and we were just watching old school EC this past weekend...a very young looking Morgan Freeman was on there too.

That is one of my VERY favorite musicals!

Fill in the Blank Friday--Sleep

1.   The last thing I do before going to sleep is         turn on the TV and set the sleep timer . 2.   When I can't sleep I      watch TV until I fall back to sleep   . 3.   The first thing I do when I wake up is     go to the bathroom . 4.   When I'm tired I      can fall asleep anywhere. I have fallen asleep in a folding chair, on a couch , outside, sitting up.....let's say when I am tired, I am tired . 5.   My dream bedroom would be       have lots of white linens and would feel very breezy. It would be filled with antiques and have a large sitting area. It would be shabby chic . 6.   If I could wake up anywhere tomorrow morning it would be        on a porch on a beach house listening to the waves roll in and the feeling the sun rise on my face . 7.   The longest sleep I've ever had was    I a...

On the Road Again.....

It was between Chicago and the state of Pennsylvania. Well....the state of Pennsylvania won out for our little trip for our first anniversary. It is a shorter drive than going Chicago, especially since we do not want to spend most of our mini-vacation in the car. I have a co-worker that lived in Pennsylvania and she gave me some great places for us to visit like, the Phipps Conservatory, the incline at Mt. Washington and the Pittsburgh Zoo ( I think that the hubby would like the aquarium). It is hard to believe that it has been almost a year since our wedding, but I can not wait for our time away. Even though I want to see somethings while we are there, I really just want to relax. If  you know any great places to go or see in the state of  Pennsylvania let me know. We are looking at taking some three day weekend trips in the summer and maybe a week long trip to the beach in the fall.  Do you have any plans for trips anytime soon or this summer? Share we might want to g...
