Wedded Wednsday: 20 Questions

When we did marriage counseling, my minister suggested that every now and then we review a few questions to keep connected in our marriage. The other day we review a few of the questions, since we were just chillin around the house. The questions started a conversation about our feelings in certain situations, such as when we feel loved or when we are sad or what makes us happy or sad. I really enjoyed the conversation and Mr. J did to. We laughed a lot and I felt like I had a better understanding of some of Mr. J point of view. Now I will say, I might not have agreed with everything that he said nor probably did he of what I had to say, but I think we respected each others feelings and thoughts and did not discount them. We may had to try this again sometime in the future, just to check-in with one another. Do you do anything to check-in with one another?

Last year I made some creepy foods for my Halloween party. I thought that I would share one of the recipes. I made these Creepy Witches Fingers last year and they were a big hit. I used a pot like the one shown below and use crushed up Oreos for the dirt to set the finger shaped cookies in so they looked like they were coming out of the ground. In bowl, beat together butter, sugar, egg, almond extract and vanilla. Beat in flour, baking soda*, and salt. Cover and refrigerate 30 minutes. Working with one quarter of the dough at a time and keeping remainder refrigerated, roll heaping teaspoonful of d

Wedded Wednesday-- Before the Wedding

A couple of days ago, the hubby and I were talking about an acquaintance that we knew was getting divorced. There were several reasons as to why they were getting divorced, such as them living in different states and the major one is that he wanted children and she did not. My first thought was, why didn't they discuss this before they got married? Maybe they did and one of them changed their minds. There are certain things that I think that you should discuss before getting married. I kinda of look at them as contract negotiations. These negotiations allow the other person to know what to expect  or how you feel on the issues that you discussed. This is not to say things can not change or new issues can not come up, but it allows you to have some discussion on the standard things such as children, where you are going to live or how you save your money. I know that sometimes divorce can not be avoided, but sometimes I think that if some of the simple things were discussed before th

Parent: Friend or Foe?

The other day I went to the library and there was a group of young girls, about 5 of them, were arguing in the lobby. I saw a women with her 2 year old go to the library counter and complain. The library security guard went to to escort them out of the library, the words that were being said ....all I could say was wow. I know that I sometimes have a foul mouth, but they totally had me beat. As they were being escorted from the library, they kept yelling at one another and the security guard. As they got into their car in the library parking lot, one of the girls said  "Mom, get in the car." To my astonishment, one of the people in the group was one of the mothers' of the other girls. As I watched them get into the car and drive to a near by church parking lot they continued to yell and scream at each other, I still was amazed at the fact that a parent was encouraging this behavior. When did parents, stop being parents? I remember when all the parents on my street, scould

Music Monday--The Eagles

I have chosen another song, that is kinda creepy and fitting for the month. I used to wake up to a radio station when I was in middle school and they seemed to be playing this song every morning. It use to disturb me a little. You really have to listen to the words. I do not think that I would like to check into The Hotel California, because you can not check out. I hope that you are having a happy Monday.
