How Was My 2010? How Will My 2011 Be?

When surfing the web, I came across these questions on K Sharpe Says: Thing Ama Blog and wanted to share them. We all start to refelct on what the year was like and what we hope the new one will be. These questions may assist you in your reflective period. 1. On a scale of 1-10 how would rate 2010? A: I would give my 2010 a 7, since there is always room for improvement. I had lots of changes from have surgery, taking care of my mom, 1st year as a wife and changing positions with in my sorority chapter. I had lots of good times, with a sprinkle of bad and a little ok. 2. Why did you give your year that score? A: I think that I already kinda anwsered that above. There are things that I wanted to accomplish and did not or half-way did it. I do believe that things happen for reason and in due time so I do not have any regret for anything I have done or experienced. 3. What are your biggest accomplishments of the year? A: Saving more, survining a road trip with my hubby, workin

5 Random Ramblings

Why does it seem like there is an increase of weight loss ads right before the new year? Is this the only time that people want to lose weight? When we put up our Christmas displays, should the Navitiy scene be next to Frosty the Snowman? Why is it that we always think about what we would have changed about the year passing instead of what was great about it? Do black eye peas, pork and cabbage really bring you good luck? I will remember 2010 as the year of my first wedding anniversary. What will you remember about 2010?

5 Random Christmas Thoughts

Why can't Christmas come several times a year? Wait a minute, it is because we would all be broke all the time. Why can't Christmas cookies be low-fat and still taste good? I am going to miss all of the Christmas movies that all the channels have be showing. Why can't we look at all of the pretty lights all year long? Why can't the spirit of Christmas last beyond the holidays? Merry Christmas

Wedded Wednesday: Christmas Eve

When my hubby and I began dating, he was still traveling home for Christmas. So that we could have spend some of the holidays together, we started a Christmas Eve tradition. We  order Chinese, watch a movie together and exchange gifts. We have continued this tradition through the years. Sometimes we have had to modify it a bit due to him having to work until midnight Christmas Eve or him having to leave early to get on the road home. For the past several years, we have had Christmas together, we still continued with this tradition. I know one year I kinda forgot about it and got a call at 8:00pm on Christmas Eve from the hubby with what he wanted from the Chinese restaurant. Of course, panic hit but lucky the restaurant was still open. We really enjoy this time together, for it gives us time to enjoy the holiday, before all the craziness of Christmas starts. Even as our lives change, we hope to keep this tradition alive, so that we can always have "our little Christmas" toget

Weekend Sweeps

Friday image found Attend my office holiday luncheon and afterward took a half of day to try to get some my holiday stuff done. Even though I was tired that evening from cleaning my home and doing some baking, I stayed up and watched Holiday Inn. Love that movie. Saturday My mom and I decorated our church for the holidays. We must do this sooner since it looks so nice when decorated. That evening I hosted my second job's annual craft party. We had so much fun. This year we made holiday pilliows. We also made what I call "boo-boo pillows", that were little pillows that we filled with balsamic rice and when heated up in the microwave and placed on a "boo-boo" makes it feel better. Sunday Continued the family tradition and made Christmas cookies with my mom. It was fun and alot of work. The work was worth it because they are so yummy. Hope you had a great weekend!!

Wedded Wednesday: Come Play With Me

The other day my husband and I were talking about some of the Christmases that we had as children. Even though we spent our holidays differently, we focused on the the toys we got. It was not just that we got toys, but that our parents played with us with our toys. I talked about how when I got a Pound Puppy for Christmas and how my mom and I would make voices with me and play with me with them. I talked about how when my Pound Puppy, Cookie, one of her seams were coming undone and my mom got out surgerical masks, a sewing needle and thread and we played doctor to fix her up. My mom even gave me some bandages to wrap her up with. It was so much fun. My hubby talked about how he used to play with his racetrack with his dad. He talked about how they tried to figure out different ways to put the track together and his dad would race over and over with him until he beat him. He said that his dad never beat him, but I think that he let him win. We had so many other memories of Christmas

Wedded Wednesday: A Different Holiday

With holidays upon us, the hubby and I already have a few events on our schedule. I enjoy the holidays and would like to do some different things this year. There are events going on all over my town that I have never attended, so this year the hubby and I each choose one event of the holiday season that we would use as our date night. I had a hard time trying to decide on what I wanted to do, since there was so many choices. Of course I took the easy way out and choose something that I could be warm and cozy...in a car. I chose for us to attend the lights at our local reservoir. To see the lights, you just pay a fee, about $5.00 per car, and you just drive through and see all the wonderful lights. I thought it was a good choice, especially since all the money goes towards our local Special Olympics. The hubby choice for us to go and see the Wild Lights at the Zoo. It sounds fun. I will just make sure that I bundle up. I think that this is another way of us building our own holiday
