Fill in the Blank Friday

I am getting into this "Fill in the Blanks" Fridays. It is fun. Here is this weeks...... When I am nervous my stomach starts to cramp. People may not know on the outside, but my body definitely knows on the inside. My favorite item in my closet is my black pants from Old Navy. I love them because I thought I could never wear anything in the store, they are a smaller size than I normally wear and I think that my bottom half looks great in them. Vegging out on the couch and watching TV is   my favorite thing to do when I need to relax. My favorite childhood memory is baking Christmas cookies with my mom. We would always find something to talk, laugh and sing Christmas songs off key while we were baking.  It was a great time and something that I enjoy doing then and now with my mom. Something that you may not know about me  is that I am an only child and I kinda of like it that way. A true friend will tell you when your outfit does not look quite right, when your

Tag Your It!

I have been tagged by Heather at " Heather Drive ". I have not done one of these in a while so I am looking forward to doing this. The rules are as follows: List 10 things that make you happy. Tag 10 other bloggers and link back to the person who tagged you. Well, here it goes....... TiVo. I love me some TiVo. I sometimes wonder how we made it this long without it. Shoes. Finding and wearing a great pair of shoes makes me happy. Reading a good book. There is nothing like being engrossed in a great story. Hanging out with the hubby. Going to thrift stores with my mom. She always finds the best stuff, but it seems like I always spend more money than she does.  Eating chicken and steak fajitas at El Vaquero Mexican restaurant. I love fajitas.  Getting my hair and nails done. It makes me so relaxed and feel so pretty. Traveling. I like seeing new places and experiencing new things. Taking a nap. Sitting on my deck in the summertime, with some lemonade or ice tea. No

Fill in the Blank Friday

At Lauren's blog, " The Little Things We Do ", she does "Fill in the Blank Friday" . This week I decided to play along. Here are my answers........ If I could medal in an Olympic event it would be ice skating because I could be elegant and wear great sparkly costumes.  If I were stranded on a deserted island I would island, I would take the hubby, 100 books, flip flops and a 10lb bag of Uncle Ben's rice. Once I was asked this question at a couples party that the hubby and I attended. Everyone said they would take their husband or wife. My hubby even said that he would take me. I said I would take all of my shoes. It was a long ride home that night.  I would rather listen to nails go down a chalk board than listen to one more story about Tiger Woods women everyday. I am happy about how I decorated my new cubicle (oops...work station) at work. ( Will post pictures next week) I really should be putting up laundry. I do not mind doing laundry, but I hate p

Boudoir Photo Shoot and Valentine's Day

I said that I would update you on my photo shoot that I did a couple of Saturdays ago. I must admit, even though Sarah , my photographer, has taken my engagement, wedding and trash the dress photos, I was a little nervous about strutting around her in my underwear. After the talking to her about what shots that I wanted and the feeling of the photos that I wanted, I felt at ease. I really got into changing into the different outfits that I brought and using all of the props. I had so much fun and felt really sexy. I could be a Playboy model after this shoot (NOT, I had too much clothing on). The photos turned out great and I really think that the hubs is going to enjoy them. I have made a photo book for my huband for Valentine's Day of all of my photos. I can not wait to give it to him tomorrow. Before I spend Valentine's Day with the hubs, I am going to have Valentine's Day with my mommy today. I think that I am going to take her out for dinner and get her some of favori

Cubicle + Office = Sucks

My office is moving this weekend into a new building. New building....yeah. Not having a door anymore....sucks. I have had an office that I have shared with my co-worker Lisa for the last 2 years. We have created a relaxed work space with mellow lighting, soft music, laughs and a lovely door that we kept shut. Now I am moving into a little grey box, with no door. I am going to miss my door and my co-worker even though she will be on the other side of my grey box. I have started to gather items to decorate my new work space. I am looking for items with color. I  have few items like a lamp, cool pen and envelope holders and pictures.  I need something else to add color, so I do not feel like I am living in a cell but a space for conducive work to take place. I will check out somethings this weekend that may work in my space to make it more homey. If you work in cubicle is there anything that you did to make your space better? Have a great T.G.I.F. image found here

10 Month Anniversary

2 months to go until the big 1st anniversary. It is hard to believe that this time last year we were putting the finishing touches on the wedding. It has seemed to go by so fast. I can not wait to see what the next 50 years has to bring.

Did You Know? Part 2

Here are this weeks Black History Month facts.... Black History Month began as "Negro History Week," which was created in 1926 by Carter G. Woodson, a noted African American historian, scholar, educator, and publisher. It became a month-long celebration in 1976. The month of February was chosen to coincide with the birthdays of Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln. On February 12, 2009, the NAACP will mark its 100th anniversary. Spurred by growing racial violence in the early twentieth century, and particularly by race riots in Springfield Illinois in 1908, a group of African American leaders joined together to form a new permanent civil rights organization, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). February 12, 1909 was chosen because it was the centennial anniversary of the birth of Abraham Lincoln . Jack Johnson became the first African-American man to hold the World Heavyweight Champion boxing title in 1908. He held on to the belt

Music Monday-- Art of Noise

I absolute love this song. It used to be the intro to the quiet storm radio show that I used to listen to on the local R & B station. I wanted the song so much I went out and bought the whole cd, just for the extended version of this song. It is a staple on my love song cd's that I like to listen to. When I was in high school, my friends and I want to have this song be our senior prom theme. Since some seniors did not know what they song was, it lost as our prom theme by a small margin. Can you hear the bitterness in my tone? We ended up with Here and Now" by Luther Vandross as our prom theme. Nothing aganist Luther, but I did not like the song. Well anyway, happy Monday .

Some Assistance Please

While watching TV the other day, I saw a commercial with former Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton joined together for Haiti relief. I was kinda taken back when I saw them together. Why does it seem like when the United States is assisting other countries that is the only time that Democrats and Republicans can work together? I think it is great that they come together for a common cause to assist others who are in need, but why can't they come together for the ills of the United States such as the economy, homelessness or education. It was just a thought. image found here

Did You Know?

Febuary is Black History Month. Over the next few weeks, I will post a few black history facts every week. Here are this weeks facts....... Cathay Williams  was the first and only known female Buffalo Soldier. She was born into slavery and worked for the Union army during the Civil War. She posed as a man and enlisted as Williams Cathay in the 38th infantry in 1866. She was given a medical discharge in 1868. Judy W. Reed was the first African-American woman to receive a patent in 1884 for a hand-operated machine used to knead and roll dough. John Love invented the pencil sharpener in 1897. Black History Month originated in 1926 by Carter Godwin Woodson as Negro History Week. The month of February was chosen in honor of Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln, who were both born in that month. The African Free School in New York City was the first free school for African-Americans. It was started by the abolitionist group the New York Manumission Society in 1787. informatio

1st Anniversary..What to Do?

If you followed me on my blog Jumping the Broom, when I was planning my wedding I did a post about the stipulations of how we had to travel (click here to see post). Just to recap a little, my dear hubby does not fly nor has he ever flown and states that he will probably will never fly, so thus we have to travel by car. Flying is so much quicker and easier, but I can not dwell on that but try to find somewhere that is a reasonable drive from our state. Our trip for our anniversary is going to be about a 2-4 day trip. We are looking at taking a longer trip sometime in the summer since my husband wants to go back to the beach, since he loved it so much when went on our honeymoon (You have any suggestions for great beaches to go to email me or respond to this post). I am looking at somewhere that we can have a fun, relaxing and short drive. At first, I had thought about renting a cabin for a few days, but when I started to look at the prices, I thought we can go out of the state for a f

Music Monday --Jodeci

Since we are in the month of love, I am going to feature love songs for the next few weeks. Here is another from group that I featured last week, Jodeci. Jodeci never won a Grammy, but when group members K-Ci and JoJo had their duo album they were nominated for a few Grammys. Speaking of the Grammys did anyone else watch? What about all the performances? I enjoyed all of them even the artist that I did not know or do not listen to. Happy Monday .
