Sweeping Through Life

Last weekend I went to the PRIDE parade with my friend Dani. It was so much fun and relaxing. There was a sense that every one was welcome no matter what they looked like, dressed like, fat, short, rich, poor or who they love. You were accepted for you being YOU . That is a sense of peace that I have not felt in a very long time. I sometimes wish that everyday, every one could feel like that. It was hot that day, but we did not care we had some much with making friends and seeing old ones. Dani  and I decided that this will be one of annual summer things that we are going to do, without the kids for some girlfriend-mommy-free-time. I took a lot of pictures of the days events so that I could remember that feeling all year though.

That lady's name is Kelly and today is her birthday. I have been blessed to know her since my freshman year in high school when she sat behind me and we made of names of each others last name ( that I will not go into).  We grew closer as she began to hang out with the band, which I actually played an instrument in and she was just there for the guys ( at least she been married to one of them for over 20 years). I must say our lives have taken many different path,but Kelly has always had a heart for me and I for her. We just have that connection when someone is down or share when we have some good news. I have watch all of her children grow up and she is one of the godmother of my Gabrielle. She was the matron of honor in wedding and she truly made my day special.  I love her so (even though I am not sure so knows it all the time) and a girl could not ask for a better best friend, even when I have not been the best to her. Last Friday I went exploring the North Market with my co-workers Sean and Lisa. We initially went to have lunch, but found a hold lot more. We decided to have lunch at Hot Chicken Takeover . Can I just say, the chicken was hot and fried just right. I became full  soon, but dd not want to stop eating. The ice tea was the bomb and besides the taste....it was FREE! The ice tea and all condiments are free. You can have your choice of bread or waffle with your your meal. I had the waffle it and it was so worth it. I had so much left over I had enough for my lunch the next day. The prices are pretty reasonable for the size portions that you quick. The food came out quick and the service was friendly. The atmosphere was fun and down home like you having picnic with your family. I definitely would go back again.       We had our annual 4th of July cookout this past weekend. I must say it was fun as usual. Friends and family came and we ate, we laughed, played and talked some more. I really enjoy entertaining and spending time with our family and friends, the little Miss surely does too. In our neighborhood we have lots of neighbors who set of fireworks. They usually start several days prior to the 4th so we decided that we join in the fun. Our little display was not anything like the neighbors, but it was satisfying for our crowd and definitely wetted our whistle for what we could get for next year. I really love our annual cookout. It seems to get better each year.  We always add something different and new, but always have the crowd favorites. I have already looked ahead for next year to start planning.  Independence Day is truly a day or independence for our country so that we can reflect and celebrate with those that we love and care ...

Friday We had our annual 4th of July party. It had rained most of the week  and even rain Friday morning and I was worried it was going to be a wash out, but it dried up and weather was great by 2:00pm. It was really nice since  as always to be around friends, but it was really nice since Miss G has some playmates to run around the yard with. Old friends mixed with new friends made for lots of fun. I even had a grown folks moment and stayed up talking to some girlfriends until 2:00am. That has not happened in a long time. Saturday The family and I relaxed all day by taking long naps and eating leftovers. Hubby and I had a date night planned later on that evening with some other couples. We started we a happy hour where I had the yummiest mango rum ( I am so getting some this week). We went to see Aries Spears at the Funny Bone comedy club and I think I laughed the whole show. Well we went to our first Easter egg hunt this past Saturday. Miss G and I went with my friends Lynnette and Alena, who were both bridesmaids in my wedding, and there daughters Maya and Taylor. The first place that we went for a hunt said that they started at 10:00am and boy they were not kidding. We were pulling up and people were walking towards us..... it was over. We said since we had packed up the kids they were going somewhere to get them some eggs. We thus began our journey to another location that started at 11:00am. We got to the next location, pulled out strollers loaded up kids and as we were walking towards the site we heard the horn sound. As we got closer, we realized that it was the sounder for the 1-2 year olds. Heck! It did not stop us we just had the kids go with the 3-4 year olds. At the beginning of December, my co-workers held a baby shower for myself and my co-worker Lisa. We decided when they were planning the baby shower that we did not want people to go to alot of expense since it was so close to the holidays, so we had a Bibs and Socks baby shower. We asked all that were coming to bring a pair of socks or a baby bib for the babies. We had pizza and pop for lunch. On Friday ,  I had to run some errands, like picking up a new cord for my laptop and getting my travel system ( for those who do not know what that is it is a stroller/car seat combo) and was so tired I could not wait to get home and get in the bed.. Saturday ,  I laid in the bed until I had to get up. It was nice to just lay around. Since my hubby had to work on Saturday, his birthday, I made some other plans. I eventually got up and  attend a friends daughters dance school rendition of The Nutcracker. It was very nice and I really enjoyed it. After that I attended my friend Lisa's baby shower. She is due the same month as me. It was a nice shower and I enjoyed playing all the games. After such a busy day, it was nice to talk to the hubby and get some much needed rest. Sunday , I attended church and then came home and enjoyed the rest of the day by watching TV and resting on the couch. Hope that you had a good weekend!!! On Friday ,  went line dancing class and came home and relaxed. Saturday ,  went to a birthday party for my friend Rachel's son Everett. He turned one. He was so cute. It was fun watching all the kids playing at the party. It was nice that during the party that the "big kids" were allowed to watch the Ohio State game. Go Bucks!!!! After the party,  made a trip to Sam's Club and then went meet my friend Bev. We went to El Vaquero to eat, my favorite Mexican restaurant, and Burlington to do one of my baby registries. It was really overwhelming looking at all of the baby stuff. What to get and what not to get. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know, I need to do a registry at a couple of other stores. Sunday , went to church as usual. Then spent the rest of the afternoon gathering furniture, including a crib from various people to start to get the baby's room together. Friday Had a good day at work. On that evening, I went to my high school homecoming. When I go to homecoming, I usually march with our alumni band, which I did this year.It was fun. My friend, B, went with me to see the sights since my hubby made such a big deal about. It was fun as usual and it was great to see all of my high school friends. I really am amazed that my band director is still there. Saturday I spent the day with my mom. When she arrived at my house, she came bearing gifts from my favorite bakery. Ummmm........donuts.After the euphoria of the donut, we went to the Country Living Fair . It was really fun and I saw a lot of great ideas.I found a few goodies like candles, fall decorations and some nick-knacks. Here are some photos from our day.... Friday Nothing much exciting. I had a good day at work and then was able to relax at home with a pizza for the evening. Saturday Helped host a baby shower for my friend Alena. It was a lot of fun and it was nice seeing all of our friends. I was in charge of the baby shower games and I was asked to not do so of the ordinary ones, so I chose some new ones. Some people thought that they were hard. Here is one of them . Let me know what you think. After the shower, I was able to come home and relax and chill watching some TV with the hubby. Sunday Ushered at church. Went to the Olive Garden with the hubby for the unlimited pasta bowl. It was so yummy. My eyes were bigger than my stomach, but lucky I was able to take some home for lunch the next day.  We must of ate to much, because after dinner we both got sleepy. His mom did a great job with the decor, especially the green balloons that she turned in to ninja turtles with felt masks. According to the Urban Dictionary , bromance is a close relationship between to straight males. This subject came to mind after spending time with my husband while he was recuperating from his illness. I realized that he was on the phone quite often.  First I thought that he was talking to his mom, since I know she calls during the day. After awhile I realized that the he was speaking to his best friend. 10:00am, 1:00pm and sometimes in the evening he was on the phone. It seemed like they had a schedule going on, which I thought was strange. When I began to listen to the conversations, they really were not talking about anything important, but were talking about what some of things their friends had done, what they were watching on TV and what they had did that day.  Then I began to get annoyed, since I was thinking that  I was in the house and he could just talk to me. I just assumed that since my hubby and I work different schedules, they have been doing this ...

This weekend was very uneventful. I had posted a few weeks ago about how I went to the doctor with my hubby, well he had his minor surgery on Thursday and I have been taken care of him. I did take a little time on Saturday to help with a baby shower for my friend Lynnette. It was fun and she was very pleased. As soon as I get some pictures I will post them. After the shower I went back to nurse duty. The rest of the weekend was the same, taking care of hubby, cleaning the house, taking a nap, taking care of hubby and watching TV. This seems like it will be my process of the next few days as well. It was nice to have a little blogging break. Hope that you had a good weekend as well.
