My New Babies

I treated myself to some new purses as a belated birthday gift to myself. They are both from Coach. This past weekend, my mom and I decided to go to one of the outlet malls, in which there is a Coach Outlet Story. They were having a great sale. The sale was so good my mom, bought herself one. I have some other black ones but I did not have one this shape. I thought it was really cute. (I guess so since I purchased it) It is just the right size for everything.  When we got into the store it was packed with customers. I guess everyone wanted to take advantage of the sale. I was immediately drawn to a yellow purse. The one that I first saw, was all yellow, but I thought that I would not carry it that often. Then I saw this one and thought it was totally cute. I can not wait to carry it this Sunday with my cute little yellow skirt and cardigan. I know in this economy, purchasing a purse may not be responsible, but it is nice to splurge on yourself every once and a while.

Pittsburgh

We will be leaving for our little anniversary trip in a few weeks for Pittsburgh. I am excited to just get-a-way for a few days. A co-worker of mine has given me some ideas of what to do when we are there, but I am looking a for few more so that we can have some choices on what to do. If you have any ideas on restaurants, must see places and things to do let me know. Please reply to this post with your suggestions and ideas. image found here

Music Monday--Aerosmith

I really like Aerosmith. When I went to the concert with my BFF, it was one of the best concerts that I had ever been to. When we karaoke for her birthday, we usually always sing an Aerosmith song. Happy Monday !!!

Fill in the Blanks

The best piece of advice that I was given was to always be true to yourself, because no one can make you happy like you. If I had one million dollars to give to one charity I would give it to the Autism Society of America . If I got to choose my "last meal" it would be the ultimate feast from Red Lobster that includes crab legs, lobster, and shirmp with a piece of Resech cake for dessert. My hair is looking pretty good lately. It has grown alot from last year and now I can even get it into a ponytail. My mom says that my hairdresser has growning hands. If you first you don't succeed... try it another way so that you do.  It may not go the way that was intended, but it maybe the way that works best for you. I have always liked to be an organizer. I like to plan events and put things together. I find it really enjoyable to see what the end result will be . Oh..by the way... did I tell you that I am tired. I am tired of snow. I tired of NCAA basketball interupting my

This is Your Life Thursday

What is one of the sweetest things that your husband/boyfriend has done for you? Mr. J has done a lot of sweet things, but one of the sweetest things was this past August. I was having pain from my fibroids. The pain was so intense, that all I wanted to do was lay in the bed or the couch. He went bought me some Chicken and Noodles from Bob Evans (which always seems to make me feel better), and kept checking on me to see if I was OK or if I needed anything. When I am sick all I want to do is be left alone, but he kept checking on me. I know that he was trying to be sweet, but it almost became annoying that he was checking on me so much. Even when I was on my way home from my doctors appointment and was prescribed a pain medication he came home early from work to stay with me since I had never taken the medication before. Mr. J can be very caring and this one example of how much he cares.

Things To Do in 2010 Update

We are three months in  on my "Things To Do in 2010" and I needed to a check-in. Let's see how I am doing. Blog at least 3x per week - I think that I have been doing pretty good with this. I know there have a been a few weeks where I did 2 and not 3, but it is better than none at all.  Complete some home improvement projects - Some of the home improvement projects that have been started, such as painting a dresser for my husband or adding a railing up the stairway, have been started but need to be finished, like finding the proper knobs for the dresser and now painting the hallway since my husband has put pencil marks on the wall trying to line up the railing. Some of the project we have planned like, buliding a deck and redo the bath are going to wait until warmer weather.  Keeping my closets clean -- I think I have been doing ok with this. What I really need to do is to move my winter clothes to tubs in the basement or donating the clothes that I can no longer wear.

Fill in the Blank Friday

Here are this weeks Fill in the Blanks....... Today I am wearing a t-shirt and sweatpants since I am doing some spring cleaning. My favorite childhood food was a donut holes from Resechs Bakery and my favorite food now is .. .I have several but I still like to have some donut holes from Resechs Bakery every now and again.  A day that I am too busy to lay on the couch and watch TV is a day that I am too busy. The last movie I saw was "The Hurt Locker" and the next movie I want to see is "The Princess and the Frog". My favorite smell is fresh baked bread , because I know I am going to eat something yummy soon.  A little weird quirk of mine is that the kitchen has to be clean when I go to bed. This probably because I use to get in trouble for not doing it when I was a child.  When I take personality quizzes... I always say I like being around people when sometimes I just want to be by myself. (This might be an only child thing).

This is Your Life Thursday

I have been looking at some other blogs and noticed that some of them have a on-going weekly series. I currently participate in the "Fill in the Blank Fridays" on Lauren's site and  I thought I give it a try and see how it goes on my blog. This is series is meant to be light and fun. Let's get started.  This weeks, This is Your Life is......... Do you have a favorite food? I have two favorite foods and one is a dessert. My first favorite is seafood. Mainly I enjoy shrimp, most fried fish, lobster and crab legs. I do not like calms, oysters or squid. I think I could eat seafood almost any night of the week. I usually stock up my deep freezer with all types of fish since it is on sale during the Lenten season. I can eat fish grilled, fried or broiled. The reason that I think that I like it so is because seafood can be light and filling meal. I also think that I  you can flavor and cook the fish in so many ways, it is always something new to experience. Seafood is so

Seasonal Addiction

I am addicted to the Lemon Creme Cookies from the Girl Scouts.  I have had this seasonal addiction for the past 2 years. Every time I open a box of them they smell so good and before I  know it  I have eaten a whole sleeve of them. They are so yummy.  Sometimes I think that I need a Girl Scout cookie intervention. I have two Girl Scout cookie dealers and I keep replenishing my cookie supply. Not only for myself, but for my husband. He has been eating the cookies that I like, plus the cookies that he likes. I have started to hide my lemon cookies and I have even hid some thin mints in the way, way, way back in the freezer to have on a later day, this is a true sign of an addiction.  Soon, my dealers will not have anymore supplies and I go back to really exercising and not just exercising my hand to my mouth to eat a cookie. image found here

Sistercation

I am going to my yearly, regional sorority conference this weekend. I am taking a little "Sistercation" (sisters + vacation=sistercation). It is going to be nice to have some time with sorors  (sorority sisters) relaxing, exploring a new city and taking care of the work of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. I am exited to see the founding place of our sorority and see some of the sorority sisters that I only see once a year. I hope that you have a great weekend. P.S. I am kinda bummed that I can not do the "Fill in the Blanks" Friday this week, but I will make sure that I do it next week.

Birthanniversary

Happy Birthday MOM!!!! I hope that you have a great day with many more to come, because you are the best mom in the whole wide world (because I said so). One more month until we have officially made it a year. It is hard to believe that it has gone by so fast. This time last year I was getting ready for my final dress fitting, my bridal shower and getting all of the last minute tasks in order. It was a beautiful wedding and it has been a beautiful year with many more to come.

On the Road Again.....

It was between Chicago and the state of Pennsylvania. Well....the state of Pennsylvania won out for our little trip for our first anniversary. It is a shorter drive than going Chicago, especially since we do not want to spend most of our mini-vacation in the car. I have a co-worker that lived in Pennsylvania and she gave me some great places for us to visit like, the Phipps Conservatory, the incline at Mt. Washington and the Pittsburgh Zoo ( I think that the hubby would like the aquarium). It is hard to believe that it has been almost a year since our wedding, but I can not wait for our time away. Even though I want to see somethings while we are there, I really just want to relax. If  you know any great places to go or see in the state of  Pennsylvania let me know. We are looking at taking some three day weekend trips in the summer and maybe a week long trip to the beach in the fall.  Do you have any plans for trips anytime soon or this summer? Share we might want to go there too.

Music Monday-- Mary J. Blige

I must admit that I like Mary's older music better, but I really like this song. Click here to listen to "Stronger".  Happy Monday .

Fill in the Blanks

Here are this weeks "Fill in the Blanks" from Lauren. One thing I must do before I die is visit all 50 states. I love to see new things and places. This might not be that hard to achieve, especially since my hubby does not fly and we will be driving on all our vacations. I have not quite figured out how we are going to make to Hawaii, though . I would rather lay on the couch and watch tv than do housework. Sounds real lazy, but sometimes it is just like that. If I could give my younger self one piece of advice it would be to have a clear focus on what your life goals are, so that they can come true sooner than later. If I won the lottery tomorrow I'd... run around the house yelling and screaming. Once I was done I would buy my mom's house, pay off my house and all of my bills, take a 6 month leave from work to travel ( would return because I would be bored at home), give some money to charity, put money away for a raining day (since I would probably have cou

Cubicle Decor

Well, I posted a few weeks ago that my office was moving to a new site and that we were going cubicle. I received some suggestions from my fellow bloggers on how to make my space nicer. Well,  I knew that I wanted to use a black and white theme so that it would go with the greyness of the walls. I went to my local Staples and found this pretty black and white damask pattern paper. I knew it was prefect for my wall. Here are some photos: I took the paper I found and stapled it all across my walls. I even found a cup with my first initial and the same pattern. You can not see it, but there is some open shelving that I took some black and white damask fabric and made a curtain and hung it up with a tension bar. On another journey back to Staples was looking for a folder holder, like the one above, but lucked out when a co-worker said that she did not need it anymore and gave to me....anyway getting back to my story going to Staples. On my second visit,  I found these folders that had v

West Side Story

Last night I got a call from my mom, stating that one our favorite movies was on, "West Side Story". I love this movie, even though Natalie Wood is not really doing the vocals. I think that it is the ultimate love story. My mom  and I even went to go see it on the big screen a couple of summers ago, it was just as wonderful on the big screen as on my TV. I know all of the songs, word for word (but can not remember to pick up bread from the store). I think that it so timeless. I was so exited when recently Le Target' (Target), had the DVD on sale for $5.00 . I can now watch it over and over without waiting for it to come on cable.  As I watched it, I found myself couch dancing and singing all of the songs. There are several songs from the movie that I really enjoy. Below are just a few of them.... I had though at one time of having this song somewhere in my wedding, but I didn't. I think it is just beautiful. There are two versions of this song in the movie. The

10 Years

I got tagged again and a wonderful blog award from Mrs. Sergeant . Thanks so much!!! The rules to this tag are: Post where you want to be in 10 years Past it on to 10 fellow bloggers Hmmmm....where do I want to be in 10 years? Let me see... In 10 years, I would like to be a mommy with maybe 1 to 2 children (but that is still under contact negotiations) and will be shuffling the kids to dance class and football practice. I also would like to be completed with my Ph.d in Special Education. I would like to have added an addition to my home so that I can have a bathroom in our master bedroom and maybe additional bedroom added to the home. I would be looking at 20 more years until I retire from my job and will be planning what I am going to do after working since I was 16. I will be celebrating my 11th wedding anniversary, by finally getting my husband on a cruise ship to see the Caribbean. In ten years, I still be taking each day as it comes, with the grace of God guiding and keeping
