Here Come the Clowns

Thursday was week three of my Wilton class. This week we worked on the second part of the rose, shell border, and making cartoon faces. I really enjoyed making the teddy bear face. We also worked on some of other flowers like the star flower and the spiral flower. I really enjoyed making the spiral flowers. This week I had the right consistency of my medium icing that is used to decorate with.

This week we had the option of bringing a cake or cupcakes. I chose to make cupcakes. Besides being cute, they are just easier to make. We had to use the clown heads for this cake. My mom had saved some of my from my clown cake when I was young and I recycled those, but I had to purchase some more. You know what they look exactly the same. I guess why mess up a good thing. My instructor taught us how to make the pretty swirl that you see on the cakes at the grocery store. I love knowing this skill. I think it makes your cupcakes look so pretty. We then learned how to make the body of the clown. They take alot of icing, but are so darn cute. I think that I enjoyed making so much that I just kept making them in class. This week I was not tired when I came home from class that I finish making all of my clown cupcakes on Thursday night. The clown cupcakes are just so cute...it is a shame that they have to be eaten.

Next week is our final week where we get to put all of our learned skills to to the test. Wish me luck with my final cake.

Fill in the Blank Friday--Sleep

1.   The last thing I do before going to sleep is         turn on the TV and set the sleep timer . 2.   When I can't sleep I      watch TV until I fall back to sleep   . 3.   The first thing I do when I wake up is     go to the bathroom . 4.   When I'm tired I      can fall asleep anywhere. I have fallen asleep in a folding chair, on a couch , outside, sitting up.....let's say when I am tired, I am tired . 5.   My dream bedroom would be       have lots of white linens and would feel very breezy. It would be filled with antiques and have a large sitting area. It would be shabby chic . 6.   If I could wake up anywhere tomorrow morning it would be        on a porch on a beach house listening to the waves roll in and the feeling the sun rise on my face . 7.   The longest sleep I've ever had was    I a...

Wedded Wednesday: Thanksgiving Traditions

With the holidays coming,  I am thinking about how I want to spend them with the hubby. We do the same thing every year for Thanksgiving and make a road trip to spend it with his family. I usually go shopping on the day after Thanksgiving starting at 3:00am and usually come home and sleep the rest of the day. I was looking at starting some sort of new traditions on the Saturday after Thanksgiving that we can do for years to come. Maybe like putting up the Christmas tree (this is my vote), taking an annual holiday photo, doing some shopping together or maybe doing something relaxing like getting a couples massage. Of course, we will have to throw in some football and lots of left overs whatever we decide to do.Building new traditions, will be the traditions that will continue in our family  and define the holidays for years to come.  Do you have any Thanksgiving traditions?
