Doing Something Good

image found here I attended a funeral yesterday for a woman who attended my church. She was fiesty, very opinionated, but always took action for what she believed in. She started my church's food pantry and was very active in foreign mission work. I enjoyed talking to her and she often made me laugh with some of the things that she would say. When people got up to talk about her, they said all these wonderful things about how she always made sure that people had something to eat, or how she interacted with the people who came into the food pantry. It made me think...what good things do I do for others? I am active with my church missions and with my sororities community service activities, but what impact are they really making in my community? Is there something else that I can be doing to make more of an impact? You heard and saw the impact that the woman at my church had on others just by the words that were said about her. It makes me want to do more, not so people can say s

Weekend Sweeps

Friday Picked up a pizza and side salad from Donatos and rented The Preachers Kid. Thought it was a good movie and I might recommend it for my church to watch. image found here         As what seems to be a reoccurring theme on my Friday nights, when I thought I was going to bed and was flipping through the channels and saw that Stomp the Yard was on. Of course, I stayed up to watch it even though I have it on DVD. image found here         Stomp the Yard 2: Homecoming is coming out Labor Day weekend and I really want to see it. image found here Saturday Went to work. Attended my friend Krista's son Joe 2nd birthday. Attend my sororities annual chapter picnic and loss at playing Monopoly. Came home and laid on the couch and watched some mindless tv. Sunday Went to church. Did some house work. Made a pot roast in the Crockpot with some wild rice and cabbage from the garden. Completed some paperwork with my friend Bev. Went to bed early because I was tired.

Fill in the Blanks--TV

I am with Lauren...I love tv as well. This weeks Fill in the Blanks is perfect for me. Here it goes.  1.   My favorite current TV show is      several reality shows like Project Runway, American Chopper: Junior vs. Senior and Cupcake Wars . 2.   The TV character I can relate to most is        is Carrie from Sex and the City. I may not have had all of the male relationships or drama that she had, but I do have great, supportive girlfriends   . 3.   My life is like (fill in with TV show and why)....    I do not think that my life is like anyone on tv, but I use to pretend to be one of the kids on the original 90210      . 4.   My all time favorite TV show is    The Golden Girls. I can always get a laugh and watch the reruns over and over . 5.   A TV show that is ridiculously stupid, but I continue to watch is       The Real Housewives of Whatever city they are in. I must admit I do watch them, because I they do some ridiculous things and make me think if people are real

Fall is A Coming.....Fall Fashion

Forget about football and raking leaves.....it is all about the new fall fashions. I know that summer is not over yet, but a girl has to plan. I have been looking at some of the fall  fashions. I have decided that I definitely want tunics and leggings for fall. They look so comfortable and look like they can be dressed up work or dressed down for relaxing on the weekends.  With tunics you need leggings..... Over course I would be wearing them with some boots or nice ballerina flats. I think acquiring some of these pieces will make for a good base for my fall wardrobe. Have you seen anything that you want for fall? images found here

Weekend Sweeps

Friday Grabbed a cheese steak and fries from Penn Station and watched Date Night. I thought that the movie was funny. It is a good movie for a rainy day. When I went to bed, I ended up watching Grease 2 until I fell asleep. It took me awhile to fall asleep since I was singing all of the songs in the movie. Saturday Ran a few errands. Saw some interesting things and people in Wal-mart. Got the eye brows arched. Made some vanilla cupcakes with chocolate butter cream icing. Yummy.  Curled up on the couch and caught up on all my TiVo shows, like Young and the Restless, Neat and Housewives of DC. Ended the evening, with watching all of my HGTV and DIY shows. Sunday Went to church. Came home and took a 2 hour nap. It was great. I had a hankern for some fish, so the hubby and I went to Old Bag of Nails for dinner. After dinner we came home and watched, A Death at a Funeral. This movie is hilarious. We laughed the entire movie. I am definitely going to have to add this one to

Fill in the Blanks--Birthday

This week The Little Things That We Do chose a birthday theme for Fill in the Blanks. Hope you have a good Friday. 1. Birthdays are fun. I enjoy knowing that I have a special day and I get to eat my most favorite cake in the world from Resechs Bakery. 2. My favorite birthday memory is the birthday party that I when I was 2. It was a my grandparents house. My grandfather and mom helped me blow at the candles. I had a pretty dress on with my party hat. I some presents, but being with my family was the best part....especially since I was the only grandchild at the time. 3. A birthday tradition I (or my family) has is that we always have dinner and I always get a cake from Resech Bakery with lots of beatuiful flowers on it. We use to go out to dinner for birthdays, but over the past few years my mom and I have been asking each other to cook a special meal for one another. 4. If I had to choose one birthday meal to eat for the rest of my birthdays hence forward, I wou

Wedded Wednesday-- Gardening

My husband and I have a garden. This year I actually assisted with turning over the soil and planting. We have gotten lots of  yummy veggies out of our garden like the tomatos, heads of cabbage and broccoli. With all of the gardening, it has been a true team effort. Mr. J keeps the garden neat, we both pick veggies and I cook all the goodies. This process of  gardening is a learning and growing one, is like growing a marriage. You grow and learn as people and together and your relationship is what you produce.  I have really enjoyed working on the garden with Mr. J, not all the hard work in the dirt though, but the time spend together learning about Mr. J and us as a couple.  Yummy veggies from our garden

Weekend Sweeps

Friday After work went to dinner with my friends, Bev and Lynnette. Saturday Had a baby shower for my friend, Danielle. My friend Chevon and I co-hosted. This will be Danielle's 4th baby. We are happy to see when Aiden will join us. We played a few games and had lots of girl talk. After everyone left from the shower, I needed to watch some movies that would be ok to be shown at an event at my church. My friend Chevon, stayed to watch them with me. We watched... We liked the movie " A Good Man is Hard to Find" better than "The Walk". The truth be honest about it was that we fell asleep on "The Walk". Sunday               Went to church. When church was over I went to the state fair with my girlfriends and Mr. J went to visit some of his high school friends. I did not ride any rides but I ate....but what elese do you do at the fair. I had a funnel cake,  an Icee, fries, ice cream from tne dairy barn and an ear of corn. The only thing that I f

Wedded Wednesday-- Closet Space

Mr. J said to me the other day, " I do not have a lot of closet space." I said casually, " Sure you do."  When I thought about it, out of all the closets in the house he has half of our master bedroom closet, as where I have clothes in our master bedroom closet and in the office closet. Before my husband decided to start purchasing himself a new shirt every other month, there was room in the closet. My solution....he needs to stop purchasing clothes. He does not need any new stuff. Who else does he need to look nice for besides me and I like him just the way he is. I thought about it some more and he kinda sounded really concerned about the amount of space he has. I do not want to be selfish and will look at my items in the closets to make some changes to assist him with a little more space. Maybe shift a shirt or a pair of pants here or there, I guess that is what compromise in a marriage. Part of making that compromise, is making the other person happy. I think th

5 Random Thoughts

My invitation must have been lost in the mail for Chelsea Clinton's wedding.  Have you ever noticed much tanner your left arm gets than the right one in the summer since it is always by your driver side window? I can not believe that it is August. There are 145 days until Christmas. Have you started shopping yet? Do remember how funny the show, "The Golden Girls" was? Lifetime shows it every night. Sometimes I watch it to get a good laugh before bed. Have they created a chewing gum that you can get more than 5 chews out of before it loses its flavor?
